Let me know when you are coming to Seattle. Maybe a track day or at least go out for a drive and see what you think of the RS. I am a BMW nut and though I love my Porsche and track it every chance I get I can't wait for my third M.

Thanks! That would be fantastic. Quite a group you all have in Seattle.

Dealer says car still in VPC but expected delivery Sept 28. Not bad, five weeks.
Update: taking some time at VPC to fix small scratch on rim... Hoping for Oct 4.

Dealer called to let me know it has been released from VPC. Hoping to get it home tomorrow before I fly out to Seattle on Friday.

Finally! I got to drive a few hours before dropping it off for the 1200 mile break in service, and then running to catch a plane to Seattle, where I am now. Scary place, what with the likes of Solstice and Lups and Dawgdog tearing up the streets.

Almost 4k miles. No problems. Getting used to the power. Very comfortable and competent DD. Put on a set of Pirelli Sottozero winter tires in stock sizes (19 255/275 35); it is easier to powerslide.

I am amped, one of the cool techs at the local dealer here got a M3. Now there are two manual tranny M3s in our little town, to go with four or five DCT M4s. Mind you, this is not CA or AZ or FL; for a poor flyover berg we are a force for the AMG crowd to deal with. BMW AG take notice!

Great ED thread, stressdoc. Will revisit when our ED is scheduled.
So sad to see the YMB for sale. Any insight you'd be willing to share (PM if needed) why you're leaving the sedan would be nice.

As with the stock market, the logic is sell when demand exceeds supply. I won't sell it unless I get a fair price. With three sons, my logic is to get a rational car (Prius V ?) and go for another ED when something wild like a Z2M comes out. Or maybe get a s1000rr for fun in the meantime. Wish you could get Beemers via ED.

Taking a trip to Italy in June. Conference in this awesome mountain village in Sicily, then a few days in the north in the lake district again. Hope I can rent a BMW from Sixt.

Sorry to see that you're letting it go. I've always liked the way that your car looked with silver wheels and the chrome kidneys so it's going to be sad to see this thread come to a close.
I'm still on the fence between going with YMB or opting for Tanzanite Blue on my F80. How has living with YMB been for the past 6 months or so? Does it still bring a smile to your face or is having such a loud color starting to get a little old? |

? The thread is, but the last little trip was just going to a conference in Sicily then a few days up north by Locarno in the Italy/Switzerland border area driving a VW up!, all with the woman I hope to marry someday... Just added to show more cool places to drive while doing ED.

Bit of an update... Flew through 20k miles on the odometer during another commute to Virginia Beach VA from Columbia MO. About 1050 miles each way, fantastic roads in West Virginia and Virginia mountains. Parts of Kentucky and Indiana are scenic as well. Cruise control usually set at 82 mph to avoid tickets -- estimating real radar speed would be around 79mph and relatively safe in 70mph limit zones. But spend a fair bit of time in the 90 mph range when traffic light and fellow speeders provide cover. Need to use Waze more... Fuel about 27 mpg.
F80 is a comfortable and engaging long distance cruiser. Stereo excellent; fantastic with HD2 stations. And versatility -- I brought a pile of firewood with me, rear seats folded down. Rock solid no problems at all car. Put the Pirelli sottozero snow tires on this week; prefer the tighter feel of the Michelin SS summers, but might opt for more extreme rubber in the spring. About to go disconnect the exhaust sound enhancement to see if I prefer the quieter 'natural' version better. Also thinking about installing the shorter smaller shift knob. Still waiting for my mythical 1100Kg Z2M for the next ED... Disappointed in the reduction of the discount from 7% to 5%.
