2018 Updates from BMW

G'day folks,

I'm interested in feedback as to what 'noticeable' improvements people have gotten from getting the latest 2018 software updates ($220 from BMW dealership) in their F80 M3's?

I'm assuming this is ecu, mdct, iDrive etc. and also 2018 Nav Maps - is there much difference from 2016/17?

Cheers,
Ed (Perth)

ooo interesting

apparently the ride quality in the lci 2 zcp is a bit better than the 16/17 - i've watched 2 journos comment on this so far

i'd give it a go for that

for those warranty conscious about vo coding non model specific settings for dct etc, this is a very good option, had no idea bmw would indulge us enthusiasts as such

...well... I'm assuming its an update across everything, so iDrive, ecu and mdct (its not the GTS updates etc. of course). I wouldn't know what else it would be otherwise. I can report back in 2 weeks time - booked in for 12th March. Thought maybe some would already have had theirs done.

You can do the maps for free but the rest of it sounds good.Inquire with them about the gts dct flash or if what they will do is similar.

Where can you get standalone map updates?

I had these updates performed recently. Not intentionally but done free by the dealer to fix an issue.

I can tell you the DCT update was aweful. Bucked and jerked worse than prior. Thud engaging reverse. Terrible.

Promptly returned the GTS settings and what a difference.

If the GTS DCT flash wasn't available I would have sold the car.

Did the dealer update remove your custom coding (ie: bimmercode changes)

Also honestly, the car feels more sluggish at low rpm. Just an observation - not confirmed with dyno or anything.
