Sorry to hear that...this happened to me in my E46 10 years ago. A buck with full antlers ran into the road (still get overly paranoid when I drive through heavily deer populated areas). The deer was on the ground for a good 10 mins. then took off.

The officer told me that I was "lucky" b/c the township would have made me pay for the deer clean-up if it was dead. This was in Radnor Township in PA.

Glad you're okay!

Nope! In my case, it was probably a driver (or drivers) who saw the car sitting in the median and called the cops. There was still a good amount of traffic since it was still early evening.

Having watched it a couple times, it actually looks like pieces of the deer end up in the car? That has to be a seriously traumatizing experience.

Holy! That's one hell of a video clip!

That is scary. My second thought is that he better have had track insurance. Seeing a deer on track doesn't even cross my mind at an event.

Doesn’t matter what state or insurance company. You come in contact with any animal that’s always comprehensive. Collision claims imply the accident was your fault. Not the case when a wild animal runs out and hits your car. Therefore you need to fight tooth and nail for your insurance company to change the classification of your claim from collision to comprehensive. Main reason being they cannot raise your rates for a comprehensive claim but they can and most likely will for a collision claim. 10+ years working in the collision auto body industry. I see it every day. Insurance companies trying to mislead their customers which are not informed and educated on the facts.

I was one of the first in the country to do it also Sakhir orange lol

http://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1054787

It was either center the car try to clear the dead body, hit a guard rail and trees, or take out a mini-van. I centered it and tried to clear it lol... Took out the oil cooler (that had to come from Germany), and total new engine (Personally think they dry started it after it sat on their lot all weekend)... On a plus side got to keep the dead engine donated it to a well known shop for BMWs and they used it for R*D

Update. Am told the car is back together but did not clear the dealer inspection as one of the headlight modules is needed. Prob is, it is on backorder from Germany.... So for now still driving the mustang convertible rental...what's another few hundred in rental fees while waiting for a part, right? Can't wait to get the car back!
