Lexus LC500

Had a chance to check one out in person today...
Looks really sharp from the backend and the sides I feel they nailed it down hard, but I can't say I've ever liked Lexus's updated front end and this isn't an exception.
Interior was mediocre but a definite step up from the RCF.

Over all I loved the sound of the 5 litre V8 but can't I struggle find any desire in the car at its list price of $118k Cad.

I'm looking forward to lining up to one of these real soon...

Anyone's else's thoughts?

I think it looks and sounds great, add Toyota build quality and it’s probably a very nice as a GT car in it’s true meaning I.e grand tourer. I haven’t driven it but expect it fto eel numb and have slow reactions. If I’m wrong and it feel athletic and nimble with great chassis and steering feedback I could see myself buying one.

it would probably be more on the gt side.. have not driven one but i just wonder if the na motor will be out of puff to pull of a good gt car like the m6/sl etc.Does sound great though and looks expensive

Drop dead looks, rock solid reliability, great N/A V8, and outstanding build quality. A more compelling car than anything BMW builds currently.

A couple of guys at my golf club have these. One silver and one red. Both look really good. They are fairly large cars. I still hate the front end but the overall package is very nice and would likely make for a great long term daily driver which is where my interests lie these days.

i see it as more of a 650i fighter. and yes, i think we can concede reliability and customer service to Lexus right off the bat, in a comparison with its German competitors.

i agree with some of the opinions on here that Lexus styling is generally great with the exception of the stupid front end. that front end is stupid.

i like their strategy of keeping N/A V8 while the comp is going turbo. they know they'll get attention this way. my question is, what kind of V8 are we getting? Lexus has been making NA V8 cars since the brand started, and they are known for fabulously smooth, zero NVH, but totally numb and disconnected luxury cars.

but then they went out and made the LFA.

so if this car is 75% traditional Lexus, 25% LFA, then i will have no use for this car. but if it's 75/25 in the other direction? now we're talking!! has anyone driven this car yet?

Can't speak from experience, but the reviews at auto journos have been very positive. Basically it strikes a perfect balance between a lux-GT and sport coupe. Able to be serene and engaging in pretty equal amounts, more or less.

Would definitely love to give one a go. Lexus is quite hit or miss with the driving dynamics of their products though, I'll give you that.

This isn't a sports car, it's a luxury coupe. Once you see it as that, you will be able to enjoy it for what it is.

Drove one and it does great for a luxury coupe, feels a bit disconnected to be a sports car.

I watched some youtube reviews and ride alongs, its def a luxury coupe.
The motor and body styling is amazing, im glad to see Lexus upping their game...

Large, heavy, lacks torque.

If you like the styling, just want a cruiser with good sound. Go for it.

I'd love it, but I don't have 100 grand. It will be pretty slow, but I don't need to be the fastest. The look and style are enough to sell it for me.

Interior is mediocre? I thought all the reviews said it's one of the best there is. I like it, it's got leather literally everywhere. But of course it's subjective.

I also saw one in person as well. Very nice exterior, the shoulders remind me of a 911. The price isn't too high considering it is a large GT car that competes with the likes of the Mercedes S/SL. NA V8 is rare nowadays.

All these comments about weight and slowness should also apply to the BMW 650 to which the LC500 competes. If you want a super fast nimble car, you're not to be looking for a Grand Tourer which is where both cars stand.

I've been a big critic of Lexus styling especially the fugly spindle grill that infects all of its new models. However, surprisingly, the LC500 looks good even with that grill that doesn't look hideous and fits with the LC overall styling (the only Lexus to do so, IMO) that is actually quite striking, like a piece of art.

If I was in the market for a freeway cruising GT coupe today and had to choose between the 650 and LC, I'd probably go with the Lexus.

This car lacks the effortless torque down low of its competitors. This is a cruiser GT car, with a engine that has to be driven like E92 M3 S65. It is easily lacking 100+tq, hence the LC is soon getting an all new 4.0L TTV8. They put that 5.0L V8 in every vehicle under the sun, but where it belongs...in a proper light weight sports car. It is a great NA high revving engine, that never got the home it deserved. Imagine the 5.0L in the upcoming Supra...rear wheel drive, manual gearbox and mechanical diff(one could dream).

So i had one following me the other day and it kind of changed my mind. This car has amazing road presence and I would buy one over a 650 or sl based on that alone. Its different

It's akin to judging the M4 based on the 4-series.

If the LC looks this good and drives this well current state, the LC F is going to be very, very interesting. I'm looking forward to what they do with it. It's going to look incredible for certain in and out.

The biggest issue for me is the lack of aftermarket support. Modify and the dealership likely wouldn't touch your Lexus with a 10m pole.

BMW’s LC competitor will be launched later this year. The 8 series will likely be more desirable on all accounts for me except for engine note and reliability. Though I’ve never really been in the large GT coupe target group so I have little clue which will outsell the other.

I saw an LC500 on the road today for the first time. I disliked the car in pictures but when I saw it today, I found the styling is even more polarizing than pictures portray.
