Push to downshift, pull to upshift.

I use the paddles on the steering wheel to shift most of the time, except when I need to shift in the middle of a turn, that's when I use the stick to shift.

I am getting the M4 because of its availability in a manual. I drove the RS5, the AMGs and I own a 6 speed M3. My car was hit by an 87 year old man 2 weeks ago who cluelessly ran a red light and hit my wife and I. We are ok, but my rental ford fusion with automatic transmission cured me from wanting an auto transmission, LOL (I know the DCT is engaging to a lot of you guys and a ford is a crappy comparison, I just miss my car!!!) I love the feel of my car, so I cannot imagine driving without the left foot again.

My friend has a 335 stick and I drove it last week and have to say one of the all-time worst manuals ever. I have an s2000 (great transmission) and an 08 911 c4s (ok transmission) so that's my comparison but does BMW tweak their manuals from the 3? My last two M's were dct and a smg

I'm averaging my two cars! But seriously my 95 vw had a better trans! I'm just curious if it will be the same trans as the 335?

M3 trannies are different altogether or modified versions (..I'm sure swamp2 or one of the other tech heads can be more specific), but even still.........the S2000's shift gate is one to be reckoned with. Comparing it with the Honda is a bit futile. With that said, I would wager that the draw to the S2000's shift gate is the mechanical feeling of it all; the BMW's tend to be much smoother (..almost rubbery at times) and less mechanical feeling, but the M3 shifts purposefully. I don't know that the S2000's tranny would fit the character of the BMW anyway.
