OC Roads

Hi y'all; I'm new to OC and looking for good driving roads in this part of the state. So far I've discovered Santiago Canyon as well as Ortega Highway. Any other recommendations, from LA area down to San Diego? From the coast to the desert...

FYI I recently got an AW F80 ZCP; previously had an E46 ZCP, when I lived in the Bay Area.

A bit farther away but head north on the 57 for about 40min to GMR. Much better then Santiago and Ortega.

I'd stay off of Ortega...it was bad enough on my Hayabusa with all the squids trying to race/pass me. In a cage they will cut you off non-stop trying to get around you.

Head down to SD County and try Sunrise Hwy....any number of roads in SD County for that matter and less crowded than OC.

One of my personal favorite driving roads is Mulholland Hwy in Malibu.

Not a lot of places in OC where you can experience some twisties. Glendora Mountain Road is in San Gabriel Valley and has been a favorite for many enthusiasts. It does get a bit crowded though.

Just experienced this road for the first time last weekend and NO ONE was on it. Definitely one of my favorite roads now!

Yeah lately I hear the CHP has been pretty active up there due to all the accidents but for the most part if you're respective of the road and it's residents you should be okay.

As a couple of others have stated GMR is awesome but crowded. If you go West a few more miles on the 210 you will run into San Gabriel Canyon Road. Also tons of fun!

It's not a mountain road per se but I tend to have lots of fun on CA 73 when I'm heading down to San Diego....I've only seen cops on there twice so be cautious but it's empty and the downhills can help you attain some awesome speeds...

A little over a month ago pigs infiltrated the group drive I was on (Malibu Autobahn). We were all driving respectfully but regardless, the f*cktwats picked out only the M3s in the group (3 of us). And gave us bullsh*t tickets; i.e. tint, tags, etc. They radioed each other so several oinkeys were able to pick us off over the span of a few miles. I know it sucks making $30K a year, but why don't you have balls and actually fight crime, as opposed to pus*y traffic violations?

SGC is the better drive IMHO, especially all the way to the top. GMR is more crowded with bicyclists and its a bit tighter before the bridge. It's definitely more technical that way though.

Anyways, anyone been to Turnbull Canyon? I haven't been there in literally over 10 years. I wonder how it's holding up?

Agreed!! Lots of places to take great pics on SGC if you are into that.

I only discovered Turnbull a couple of years ago but I think it is great! I used to drive it on the way home from work every Friday when I worked in L.A. Short and sweet!
