Can't wait to get more opinions from regular car folks who are lucky enough to see them in Detroit. Please report back on your opinions of the colors and cars in the flesh.

New M3 and M4
Notice the 1st picture:
World premiere The new BMW M3 sedan and new BMW M4 coupe. It is just a matter of time when we'll hear BMW launching the M3 coupe and M4 sedan as well. This will be very funny. Trying to squeeze every bit from the market but this is not good for BMW, just more cookie cutter options to choose from. What's left now, the all new 3-1/2 series and all new 4-1/2 series BMW? I'm not impressed at all with new M3 M4 models as I was not impressed with the new M6 as well. The only new M model that is worth the money-M5, that's it, no M5 2 door or M5 convertible or BS like that just simply M5. |

And wait till you drive one. It will be much sportier than your 335i. You might reconsider the badge... I know because I drove 335i as well, for 4 years. Last edited by hwelvaar; 01-13-2014 at 04:30 AM.. |

At our local BMW Store is a 428xi with a M Badge because of the Bodykit... BMW is throwing M Badges everywhere because of marketing But i would not laugh at people who leave those factory badges... it's just something i wouldn't have on my car

The wheels on the M4 seem to be gloss black, and due to the angles at which the photographs are taken, the reflections make them look polished.

The Detroit BMW show entry is there to sample these cars. It is not a show to please the entire customer base palate.
That M4 looks very sophisticated and evokes a modern look. This is hard on our eyes used to nearly 6 years of some familiarity with the e92. Also, we have a US car culture similar to soap box racing, where adding gizmos like spoilers, fins, lips and tints makes our cars faster in our thoughts. This car has no real estate for these items. The M4 is following the steps of a 911 - there is no space to alter the car. If you do, it winds up affecting the look. My guess is that it will be necessary to look at the M4 for a long time to truly appreciate it's aesthetic innovation. The M3 looks are already familiar. So, it is easier to swallow the evolution from the e90. I am glad BMW has given us two new cars to choose from. All the complaints on the dramatic changes brought by the M4 here convince me this is a breath of fresh air for the car lineup. |

Will the official US prices be announced? Military/Diplomatic sales have a price sheet but it's marked "preliminary." I'd like to see the actual cost sheet.
Also, any shots of the non CC brakes? Are they just the blue M-Sport brakes?

I wish they had styled the M3 with the same trunk lid as the M4. The integrated spoiler looks more... integrated compared to the one on the M3 which, I assume, is just tacked on. Otherwise, both look great but I agree with others, I'm anxious to see other colors, although I'll probably go with the blue if I buy one. The important information will be when driving reviews are available.
