Ontario police (exhaust)
Hey guys, I now moved to Kitchener ON. I will will also go to Toronto frequently. I am wondering about the leniency of the cops with a modified or mufflerless or maybe de catted exhaust. In Vancouver they issue vehicle inspection tickets which basically forces you to remove your illegal exhaust and fines you. Do they really enforce the exhaust law here? I can bear with occasional fines of loud exhaust tickets, but not being stopped multiple times a month. Do they do similar vehicles inspection things here forcing you to remove the illegal exhaust?

No issues here and I live in Brantford and commute to Guelph and also Toronto, so I think you should have no worries!

There are loud cars all around. And don't even get me started on the Harley's out there. Haven't really heard of large amounts of tickets being issued, but pretty sure it must happen occasionally.
I have a BMS Can Flap module. Whenever I see a cop, I always close my flaps just to be extra safe. |

I think the new bylaw kicked in Oct 1 but seems the 92 dB limit applies to motorcycles only?

Have had my vettes for 21 years many Camaros cts-vs and mustangs and most if not all had headers, exhaust and various mods. Only thing ever relating to the police was when the cops asked me to let it rip when I left a traffic stop. Was long tubes and a stroker with no cats. Im sure they loved it
Ill be doing Catless downpipes soon and have the mpe so I know itll be louder but im not worried one bit. But just remember.. do something stupid or act like an idiot.. and more than likely things may lead to checking your exhaust and noise levels real fast.. |

Vancouver is so different. On Canada day(just 3 months ago), I was driving near downtown and was caught by a speed trap doing 83 in a 60. I wasn't running cop detection devices because I wasn't wanting to drive fast nor were I think I was going fast on that day. I was acting real nice to the female cop during the stop and she still issued me a ticket for no front plate and speeding. Then I was free to go so I started my car. Boom, she comes yelling at me to stop and wrote me another ticket for unnecessary noise. The cops in Vancouver are mean, but at least we get to run radar detectors and laser jammers 😂 |

Nope, the OEM MPE isn't 92 dB even at wide open throttle at redline

Do you have a source for this? I would actually like some measurements of the MPE decibel levels. I've been noticing some ear ringing since i got the MPE.

At my local track (LCMT) the maximum sound level is 92dB and they are very strict. At 92.1 you’re blacked flagged. The only time I got flagged with my stock car with MPE was a very cloudy day with a low ceiling when the exhaust was cold on the 3rd turn, seconds into the warmup lap. The thing with the MPE is that when it’s cold it’s quite a bit louder for a minute until it heats up and then goes down substantially, definitely lower than 92dB.
