European Delivery -- with a trade-in

So, I have been hoping to do ED with my M3 order this year, and I have talked with a few dealerships seeing who has allocations and will honor ED pricing.

I have read everything on the basics and I understand that financing, if applicable, must be established before I travel and take delivery. I also know that once my trip is complete and I bring the car to the drop-off location to be shipped to me there will be a number of weeks before it arrives in the US at my dealer, my home, or wherever.

If I choose to use my current BMW as a trade-in on the new M3, as many would, how would that work? If I have to trade the car in before I leave and take delivery, then I will return home and be without a car for weeks. This is a problem, as I need to do things such as get to work.

Has anyone out there gone through the ED program with a trade-in? Any advice?

If you're ordering from a local dealership, I am sure they will be willing to give you a used car to have, or let you keep your current trade in till your car arrives. MB gave us a used car for a few months till we received our new car.

OP I am thinking about to do the same thing too. Thanks for bringing up this question because this is something I have not figured out. I guess talking to the local dealership and see what they can do about it?

Cheers for the new M!

off topic but can anyone confirm something for me?

with a price of $78800, what should my Euro Delivery price be?
I was quoted $74500 and think it should be at least a grand less if its 7%.

ED only discounts the base price. Any package/option does have the same price as for the US delivery. You can check the pricing thread:

I didn't get a used car from my dealership. I had to trade in my car then use a rental both before and after euro delivery until my car arrived.

At this point I am looking at paying for the new car, waiting for it to arrive after our trip, then selling or trading my current car. I won't get the tax benefits of a trade-in regardless.

You get 7% off MSRP. It is up to the dealer whether they take the 7% off of all your options, etc. but you can certainly find some who do.

On non-M cars that are not in high demand, you have even more wiggle room, as the discount can be up to 14% (ED invoice price), but don't expect it on an M car in high demand.
