Having had an E63 AMGs for the past 3 years and now moving to an M3 Competition, I can say that as far as our right speed and hook up is concerned its very hard to beat an E63 unless you are in a 911 Turbo or GT-R. Its luxurious, comfortable and spacious, sounds good when floor too. However, handling is not there..its a little floaty, but by no means a slouch on the track, in fact I was passing everything including Boxter's and Corvette's and F80 M3's. Yes granted they may have been inexperienced drivers.
The reason I got the M3 Comp was for looks and handling, speed won't be the same but I am planning Dinan Stage 3, although with RWD I'm not too hopeful that this will match the E. I would go test drive an E before writing it off.. |

I used my 2013 GT-R as a daily for 2 years and 53k Miles! Yup 53K. It's amazing and I had no complaints for the type of driving I did. Usually 60 miles roundtrip to and from work but currently looking for a replacement and eyeing the C7 Z06.
The C63/M3 would be a much better DD I feel, but I just love having my supercar with me at all times ATS-V I personally see it as a downgrade from the M. Experiencing both I would stay with the M. Have you looked into the CTS-V? That would be an amazing option as well. |

"Ghibli is a disaster from a maintenance standpoint so id stay far away there." I second this too. Too many friends that work on/own them and they spend a lot of time at the shop. If you get the trade bug often, you might as well try a GTR to see how you like it and be a complete contrast to what you are used to in Euro cars. |

I have owned 2 GT-Rs and they are incredibly easy to daily drive. The challenge with those cars is going to be in the cost of replacement brake rotors, fluids, etc which are significantly more than BMW parts. The transmission is loud, obnoxious, and not as smooth as our DCT's.
Don't get me wrong, I prefer my F80 as a daily, but the Nissan is several orders of magnitude faster. There is no way I would pay a premium for anything newer than a 2013 model, however. If money is no object I'd get a 997.2 turbo with PDK. Don't care for 991's and their electronic steering. |

If gas mileage means anything AT ALL to you, then getting a GT-R or E63 is going to suck the tank dry every 2-3 days. Unless you drive like a grandmother, you'll be lucky AF to see 8-10 mpg out of those cars. I doubt there is another car on the planet short of a Tesla that can remotely touch the MPG performance of an F80 M3. I rape my gas pedal so F ing badly, I should be doing life in prison. I mean I beat the $hit outta my gas pedal like a pimp on a no-money-earning skank. I've been pulled over 4x this year, and gone through a set of rear tires in 11 months, and most of that city driving... and guess what my mother effing MPG is... a gawd damn 18.5. Did you ever see the movie 'Casino' ??? You remember the scene near the end where they take Joe Pesci and his brother out to the corn fields and beat the effing hell out of them with baseball bats... that's how badly I pound my effing gas pedal. I swear on my ugly koont mother's grave that NOTHING on this planet can perform like an M3 while returning even remotely close to the same MPG. Just ain't gonna happen. Not in a petrol powered engine. Not now. Not ever. The F80 is godlike in MPG Performance Last edited by 01101001; 12-11-2016 at 04:06 AM.. |

Just my personal opinion on switching to a 991:
Had 2015 M4, drove for 20K miles, went to 2015 991.1 CS, put 15K miles on it, came back to 2017 M4. Not because I didn't like the Porsche, in fact the 991 was my 4th Porsche, but for me a "regular" 911 was not a good substitute for the M4. A GT series 911 would definitely be a "step up", but a regular 911 is simply a different (not better) kind of a car and I personally prefer the M4. So you should get a Audi R8 V10 because of reasons. |

Have you considered a F Type R?
That or a V8 R8 would be my first choice in that price range. GTR is good if all you care about is speed. Interior is far inferior to that of a F80, it sounds like crap stock and rides pretty rough. Definitely a fun car but I would not want it as my only car, plus its kinda ugly |

I find cocaine is for people who can't handle lifes truths.
I can prove my 18.5, and I can prove I'd never get over 10 doing the same driving in a GT-R or E63, and many other cars... so... yeah, I guess people who can't handle that truth should snort or mainline, whichever works better for them. |

Very true the new turbo motors are phenomenal and retained the 911 surgical precision you expect. The 991.1s were still in that category but the new turbo ones are just a good but faster. Even the base 911 is 11.9@118 for only 370 go and also further upped the game in track times. The S is just even better. If you didn't think the straight line speed was enough in the .1 cars (which were not slow) you sure will now.
