My bet is that Chris Harris will drive and report on one prior to customer ordering. I don't see any reason why it won't happen very soon unless BMW doesn't have the confidence in the car. If it does not happen then I see it as a red flag.

It looks like they swapped cars at some point. The ones in the parking garage have no front plates and the sedan is equipped with sunroof instead of CF.
Looks a lot like the initial photos shown here:

Then it looks like they swapped cars just before the Press Conference, hence the CF roof on the F80 & front plates on both like so:

The nav, climate and radio controls all look like an F3x. The big improvement was in the materials used on the rest of the surfaces. The seats were at least as good as my E92. They had perforations that look like they have AC in the seats at least as an option. And of course a much better steering wheel. The controls on the wheel didn't feel as cheap as the non-M. overall the fit and finish is generally what you would expect of an M. I was a bit worried before because of how cheap the F30 loaners I've had have felt in the interior.

Your comment about LSB looking like "smurf" blue says it all - that's a function of poor photo quality (usually found in low-quality cameras taking direct-sunlight pics), as LSB in the flesh (again, due to its green hue) doesn't look anything like smurf blue (or YMB) in the real world.

YMB may not look good to you in these pics, but the only current BMW blue it actually resembles is a mix between Estoril (for the shade and metallic effects) and Santorini (for the blue-purple hue). Estoril would barely look any different than YMB, just a little bit lighter and less bold.

I actually have a thing for Blue Bimmers as well (eight years running with an LSB M) so I am qualified to debunk your speculative chromatics. I will be ordering mine in either LSB or Atlantis Blue.
Your post comes off as arrogant and antagonistic, and I think you're misunderstanding him a bit. He's not saying YMB is similar to LSB because the hue is exactly the same, but because they're both light blues (especially YMB it seems), lighter than any other BMW blues I know of. I haven't seen LSB or YMB in person, but based on pictures I would agree with him that YMB is overly light, and is more similar to LSB than Estoril overall. I see what you mean that LSB may swing more toward the green end of the spectrum, whereas Estoril and perhaps YMB have a slightly purple hue, but those differences are subtle compared to how much lighter YMB is than Estoril (which is itself lighter than most BMW blues).

Thanks that is very good news. One concern less. Thanks!
Did you by any chance check if the side bolsters were mechanically adjustable and if there was an extender for thigh support?

Envious. I couldn't score IP tix this year. Did you take a seat in the M3 and AY M4 too?

How does the new seat feels like?
Is it more or less comfortable then standard F30 seats? Harder or Softer? Wide enough to fit a bulky guy?
Thank you!

If the bolsters were adjustable, I didn't see it. The style of the seats doesn't look like they would be. I didn't notice the thigh extension. (I wasn't looking for it since I've never used them in the 3 BMWs I've owned that had them.) I spent more time trying to figure out if the seats were air conditioned because of the perforations in them. The woman that let me in the car didn't know.

I only sat in the one M4. The other interiors were basically the same in different colors. I mainly wanted to get a feel for the driving position, cockpit arrangement and visibility.

Ok thanks, usually the bolster adjustments is a bit tricky to locate and thigh extenders aren't always visible as on our Cayenne for example, so this is still an open Q.

The new seats felt really good. Definitely better than the F30 seats. The interior was a big step up as far as quality and fit and finish compared to a standard 3/4 series. I was worried having some F30 loaners that felt so cheap. I had a 2001 330i that didn't feel cheap compared to the 2004 M3 I had after it.

I would be really curious if the lateral support was as good as the ones in my E92. They seemed to be designed to accommodate a larger driver. I could be wrong but that is something only a proper test drive will tell!
