Bottom line - no way I'd pick the CTS V over even the civic-spec F8x. I like to go to the track when I can and the CTS V (in addition to looking too "old" for me) just doesn't appeal to me for that purpose... But hey - for whomever likes that car - I cannot fault someone else for having a contrary opinion!
No, what I was saying is that M3 won easily in Autobild test.
Don't like Cadillac and I will never own one.

The dials, dash and infotainment on the GM are terrible (going to remedied in the next gen) however it was one of, if not the best driving car I have ever driven stock.

The suspension and handling were amazing...

The power delivery and transmission left a lot to be desired however.
Agreed. Loved and hated the ats at the same time.

The ATS-V has ~200+ extra pounds to schlepp around... the ~20hp advantage it not enough to overcome the extra weight (the M3 CP has a better power-to-weight ratio than the ATS-V).

Alfa got out the hole faster and that was the margin of victory. Caddy didn't stand a chance.

I wonder how much of an affect the varying fuel levels had on the outcome.

And I'm curious how much fuel the ATS-V had.

8-spd Automatic vs 7 speed DCT.

F8x cars always slow off the line because of the wheel spin.

I did not see much wheel spin from the M3 in this particular race...

Not only the Alfa. If you watch the video closely, you'll notice the Caddy had the best launch.

It is not the first drag race video we see where the M3/4 lags at launch and other cars are "accused" of jumping the start. There are actually quite a few examples of this. I think this has to do with the slight delay there is when releasing the brake and the clutch engaging when using launch control. This delay is not reflected in 0-60mph times because the clock starts when the car starts moving, or even after it has travelled a one-foot-rollout in US publications.

I think they're all beautiful in their own way, reflective a bit of their country of origin. I'd love to drive any of these (even in spite of the ATS gauge cluster...such a head scratcher, the person who signed off on that).

I have an ATS-V Manual Coupe as my weekend ride and it's far from perfect; gauge cluster being the biggest gripe (as others have commented). Other than that knock, I chose it over the M4 based on driving feel through the canyon where I live and over the C7 because I ultimately decided that four seats are still in my family's better interests.

My DD is the F06 (640i GC); obviously very different cars that are pointless to compare. The performance of the V and M are so close (despite this particular review) that it comes down to one's priorities. I also happen to love the CUE system in the Caddy where lots of others hate it. Think you can't go wrong with any three of the cars in that video, though I've owned two Italian cars (not counting Jeep SUVs) and I think I'm taking a break based on lacking reliability.
