Sound system

I know the HK sound system has been discussed before but wanted to get some additional feedback. Just got 2018 M3 and was pleasantly surprised by the sound. Most threads that I have read are pretty down on the system. Is the 2018 version different from past years? My last car was a 328 with BavSound speakers and a Bimmertech amp that was professionally tuned. Sounds great but I prefer the HK.
Has anyone retrofitted the 2018 HK speakers with BavSound?

depends what you're coming from.

I had a 2009 Mitsubishi Lancer EX GT which had a Rockford Fosgate sound system and IMO it was better.

I have the convertible M4 so only 12 speakers for me, my wife has a 2017 X5 and the Harman/Kardon sound system in hers sound night and day better and has way more punch and bass.

I think the coupe has better sound than the convertible since it has 16 speakers vs 12 on the convertible.

Bavsound is not the only option if you want to upgrade the sound, just saying!
