\\\ BMW Individual Grey Black M3 to Grigio Telesto
Featured on BIMMERPOST.com After a short 6 months of ownership, I received a call from BMW saying my car had been recalled. More on the recall here: http://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1158875. The recall brought some mixed feelings as I had just finished up my first round of modifications and was really enjoying the car. The car was pretty much perfect. After some discussions about the next steps, BMW notified me that they were going to be replacing my car altogether. My 2015 would be replaced with a 2016 car and I had the option to choose M3 or M4 and a new color if I wanted. I began un-modifying the car and prepping it for return. But then the real questions started...what to re-order? Should I do the same car, should I switch to an m4, should I change the color? Ultimately I decided that I loved the grey on amaro combination but thought I would change the color to grigio telesto to add a bit of suspense to the waiting process. I stayed with the m3, I really like the proportions and rear fenders on the car. I hadn't seen grigio telesto in person before and I wanted to add a bit of surprise to the new build. Big thanks to Derek Tadros and Matt Wilson at BMW Canada as well as Jay Wong and Rob Leccese at Endras BMW for helping make the transition as smooth as possible. Fast forward 4 months...the car has arrived and the re-modding begins... Couple of pics from recent meet. Thanks D Bartelo for the photos. The original post: Like many others on here, an M3 has been a car that I've been dreaming about since I was a young kid. I remember being about 10 years old, walking into a showroom and seeing an estorial blue e36 M3. Sitting in that car, seeing the M stripes on the seat, I knew I wanted to own one eventually. Growing up, money was hard earned and we simply didn't have the resources to enjoy some of these finer things of life. My parents worked incredibly hard, multiple jobs, always sacrificing their own interests and passions to give us kids the opportunities. It was clear to me, no shortcut to success, dreaming big and working hard was the only way to achieve my goals. I've grown up with a passion for cars, something passed down from my dad. My parents always pushed me to get a good education so I studied mechanical engineering when I was in school and started designing and building off road cars to race during the summer. After I finished school, the natural progression was to get a real car and start tinkering. My first BMW was an '08 335i. This was my entry into e90post where I met some great people who are some of my best friends. After the '08 car, I swapped into an '11 335xi. The mod bug hit me and I created my perfect car. I did all of the modifications myself, making sure that every little detail was perfect, fit and finish were really important to me. I always hated seeing cars that looked great from a distance but not so great up close. Seeing and reading the review of the new M3 really twisted my arm over the summer. I just thought back to my childhood and I'm sure my parents could have got an M3, Porsche probably even a Ferrari at some point if they didn't put me first before themselves in everything so I decided to just go for it and get the M3 so that we could all share it together and enjoy the amazing performance of this car on track days. None of the other cars really did it for me - rs5, c63, cayman s. I ended up ordering an M3 in August last year after I went to one of the M Tour track day events. All of my cars have displayed elements of my personality and since I was finally going to be getting an M3, I really wanted this car to be special. I got in touch with Matt Wilson at BMW Canada and we started building my dream car. We ended up with Grey Black exterior and Amaro Brown interior color combo. Once I finalized the BMW Individual part, I went to Endras BMW and met with Jay Wong to seal the deal. I want to give a quick shout out to both of these guys, they were incredibly helpful and super quick to respond to all of my questions. I've dealt with multiple dealers and sales reps over the years. These guys are by far the best I've dealt with. After the lots of anticipation, checking f80post everyday...multiple times a day...reading about the car and watching every video possible, my car finally arrived this past week. All I can say is I can't stop driving this car. It's such an incredible machine and performance from this thing is next level. Enough with my rambling, here are a few crappy pics. Proper photos coming soon! Few upgrades: - Black Grills - Black Side Vents - Black exhaust Tips - CF Mirrors A few new shots. Credit: TGPV Photohraphy Added a few things since I picked up the car. After installing my suspension and wheels, the next step was to search for an exhaust to go with the rest of the build. Like everyone else here, I scoured the forum searching for any and all systems available...then watching pretty much all the youtube videos that had to do with m3/m4 exhausts. A few locals have different exhaust systems so I was able to hear M performance, Akra, Eissenman, Meisterschaft in person. All of these systems have different sounds and I was a bit torn on what to get. My build has always been about creating something unique that represents a bit of my personality. For the most part, I have gone for a clean, aggressive yet simple look with careful attention to details to make sure the car looks just as good up close as is does from 20 ft away. This is also my daily driver car so I didn't want it to be too flashy or crazy. So far, I have added components that improve looks but also provide improved performance and driving characteristics. With this in mind, Albert at Speedstar approached me and suggested that I try out the new Capristo exhaust for the m3/m4. It has just released and they had lots of experience installing Capristo systems on a variety of other cars. He just said..."trust me, Capristo sounds amazing". I've been going to Speedstar for over 7 years now...since my first BMW and when Albert said this system will exceed my expectations, I started to seriously consider it. I researched the brand and looked at how they engineer and test their systems, materials they use and their processes. Lots of thought and engineering goes into their design. Finally, I decided to pull the trigger and order it. Fast forward a few weeks... My Capristo Exhaust arrived last night. Special thanks to Albert at Speedstar (http://speedstar.com/euro/) for the exhaust and install! They are the Canadian distributor for Capristo and one of the only shops that I feel comfortable letting work on my car. Good bunch of guys that put in a lot of attention to detail and care when working on your car. First impressions: This exhaust is very well built. Quality is top notch. The exhaust is made from 309 stainless. The valve control on this exhaust is awesome. There is a remote that allows you to toggle through 3 settings - cruise, sport, open. Love how the muffler is hidden above the diffuser, really cleans up the look of the rear. Cruise - valves closed - the valves will open when the exhaust pressure reaches a set limit. Sport - operates similar to cruise. Valves start closed and will open at a lower pressure. Open - Full open. The sound off this is pretty amazing. There is a throaty, powerful sound. Overall, really happy with this system. It definitely does not disappoint and valve open is pretty epic. More comments and videos to come. Here are a few pics for now. Wow is that colour combo just brilliant!! Nice pics and congrats! Great story, nice to hear about people getting and really appreciating their dream cars.
I agree with you wholeheartedly about Matt Wilson at BMW Canada. We're lucky here to have such an enthusiast presence at the corporate level and I wonder if any other countries have the opportunity to enjoy that kind of relationship when you're building a special car. My dealership is Budds' and my CA for more than 2 decades has been Ken Tyzio - they too are enthusiast minded and I love dealing them. It takes these cars to another level when you actually look forward to the dealership experience!! Hope to see you at M-Power this summer, in the meantime enjoy the M3

Awesome! Your path sounds kind of similar to mine: mechanical engineer, passion for cars passed down from earlier generations, started on e90post with a 335i You also have a sick build here; one of which I, too, considered but with black wheels and a manual.
Enjoy! Your car looks great.
