Will this mod list create any problem for a leased M4?
I plan the following modifications :
1) JB4 / Any tune 2) Catless Downpipes 3) Carbon fibre front lip 4) carbon fibre rear diffuser 5) carbon fibre rear lip 6) Carbon fibre accents in interior ——————- Mods below this line is "maybe" Any good Exhaust system Rk tunes intake Since I never leased a car, I dont know if you "have" to go to a bmw dealer for service everytime, or else I would be happy paying for servicing on a random store unless its a big service issue and i really need to go to BMW only than I will unhook the Tune or Jb4 whichever I have. I plan to take a lease from swapalease/bmw dealer and keep it 1.5-2 years and swap it through swapalease again since i dont like owning cars more than 2 years. |

Just go to a local shop in queens and hope all you need is periodical oil changes and light maintenance(brakes, tires, etc)
Cosmetic differences such as lip and spoiler and accents shouldn't matter on the warranty of the engine based parts and powertrain. |

I've never leased a car, but I'm surprised dealers don't put clauses in the contract regarding modifying the vehicles (especially the mechanical components such as the engine). After all, it's really still their car so I wonder why they don't take steps to protect the value of their property?

Technically, you're not allowed to mod the car in any way. This includes benign things like window tint or clear bra. Most dealers won't care since these are pretty common and likely desirable for the next owner. Anything beyond that (unless it's a BMW part installed by a BMW dealer) and you're rolling the dice.

Yeah, your mod list is not compatible with leasing. As mentioned, the tune will void the warranty, and some of the other mods can be deemed to be the causes of problems and thus not covered under warranty. Leased cars are best left stock or limited to cosmetic mods (wheels, etc.) that can be reverted to stock (and then sold) when the car is turned in.

I usually say those mods are okay on any car (leased or purchase), but since you had to ask, then my answer is NO.
Know what you're doing, understand the consequences of your actions, and have a good exit strategy. Again, if you have to ask how it's done, then it's best to keep the car stock. |
