My drivers side has it, on the very bottom. 5k miles.
Never parked in the sun. No "buttons" rubbing against anything. Not a big concern for me. It is what it is.

I know I am new and still awaiting our ED next month, but even if you got BMW to replace the badges, wouldn't they just replace them with the same and then the cracking would re-appear in a few thousand miles AGAIN and then you are back to square one?
OR is the replacement badge a better version? A non-cracking version? |

To me it looks like it has expanded and contracted and that process caused what looks like creases. I imagine that it does have to do with direct sunlight and instead just hot weather and then blasting AC.
Just a thought.

I've noticed on the gel wrist pad I had at work with time, pressure and "twisting" of the gel pad those "cracks" show up on the base of the pad. Not the gel itself but the bottom clear rubbery part. It's exactly the same, visually. I knew it reminded me of something! My guess it has something to do with the adhesive and the rubbery badge and pressure being put on it. Again, I have far more important things to stress over in my life than this badge....

I don't understand how people do not car about this badge on a clearly visible and prominent place yet at the same time mod their cars and care about the colours of their springs. If this would happen with my 100.000 euro car I would not be so cool about this. If the quality is that bad then bmw should have not created this at all.

I'm blown away that people inspect them and warp out about their condition months and months after ownership. It's quite shocking what people worry about on these cars. I'm amazed they can even enjoy theirs.

I just checked mine. And mine are cracking too! I'm at 5k miles. The passenger side is pristine, I only have passengers 20% of the time.

Maybe it happens only in the first 1000s of miles and maybe once replaced after let's say 10.000 miles they will no longer crack? Has any1 have them replaced and can confirm that once replaced they no longer crack? |

I have had my M4 for 1 month and I have already noticed the same problem on the M badges on both of my front seats. I live in Miami and have tinted windows, but the car can still get very hot and I believe it is from the heat. It doesn't really bother me,I have wear and tear protection on my lease and may change them it it gets a lot worse as I get closer to lease end.

I have a theory about the placement and that it only affects tall riders. Maybe the badges are placed too low and short riders do not put that much pressure on the badges as the taller riders. I am a short rider and so is my wife so I will be able to tell soon if mines are cracked or not.

Is anyone experiencing buzzing coming from their seats when the logos light up? I recall a thread 6 months+ ago on this topic, but I just got my '16 M4 and was really hoping this problem would have been solved. The buzzing is surprisingly loud - the only saving grace is the logos don't stay lit for very long.

The same has happened to my car. I know I'm being OCD about this... But if BMW has fixed the issue, will they replace the parts or change them out for a small fee or under warranty?
