any chance the other key fob is in the car and it's preventing you from "locking yourself out"?

I've had the F82 M4 for a few months now.

I've been having Comfort Access problems since day 1

Symptoms and clues:

- Comfort access signal is VERY WEAK
- With key fob in my pocket, it only works 60% of the time
- I have to take the key fob out of my pocket and put it close to the door handle, then it will work.
- If the key is in my pocket, I also have "Can't find key" error at least once a day when I start the engine. I'll need to press the engine start button a few times or take the key out of the pocket.
- Every morning at cold start, the comfort access would work. But after driving the car for a bit, signal becomes weak and starts giving problems. This happens on a daily basis.
- Boot release button from key fob doesn't work 80% of the time
- Boot kick works 100% of the time
- Both keys have the same problem
- In summary, comfort access works but the signal is extremely weak (won't work if I wear thicker pants like Jeans or put the key in a bag)

Things dealer and I have done so far:

- Remove all window tinting (apparently might block signal)
- Flash ECU to latest version
- Full diagnosis came back with no errors
- Car battery voltage check is good
- Replace both key fob batteries

The dealer has been extremely responsive to the issue, but they can't seem to solve the problem.

- Any suggestions ?
- Is there schematics drawing on how comfort access works on the F8x ?
- How many sensors and transmitters are there to replace ?
- Worth replacing the car battery ?

Otherwise, the car is fantastic !

Cheers :-)
I had a problem with the key access around 700 miles into the car.. after lots of tests, saying that the tints are the problem and accusing me that i tampered with the car they found out that there was a defective module and it needed replacement. It was the DME and FEM. That fixed the issue.

^^^ Yes, you were doing it wrong. You're supposed to hook your fingers around the handle like you're opening it and it should work 100% of the time. Putting your fingers over the top part of the handle is how you lock it.

I have very dark and illegal tint. I've had no issues with comfort access nor any issues with fob / car signal. All well here. Sorry for your headaches.

OP

My F80 works perfectly however I suffer from the same things you speak of in my '11 E93 M3

to date both door handles have been replaced, both key batteries (the car battery in perfect no need to replace), all 3 interior anntena's were replaced and still no difference.

The car is heading back to the dealer next week. I am thinking it's a module that is going bad (perhaps the CA module).

Keep us posted on your status.

How did they test those two modules to determine they were bad?
