MPE on a 2018 ZCP

I have done some research, at least the best you can do via videos and searches which admittedly is not great during these types of choices. However, I live on Oahu so I don't have the option to hear this in person. Is it worth it to upgrade from the sport exhaust to the MPE? Or would I be better off unplugging the baffles?

When I tried unplugging the baffles before I could not help but feel like my car had some type of delay in throttle response. This could be because I was paranoid that I might mess something up by doing this. Anyone that has a ZCP or has heard one please help me out here. Also if you have a better option feel free to throw that out there as well, I'm not wanting a check engine light or a tune btw and factory warranty is very important to me.

Thanks in advance for the help!

Not worth the money. What are you looking for? Better sound? I dont think AA midpipe will trigger CEL or require a tune so I would go with that.

Yeah, looking for a fuller sound than what efficient mode offers. I'll be honest the sound from Sport+ on current setup is fine it's just not practical to drive around like that all day every day. Is there any evidence out there that suggests pulling the baffle plug on ZCP can cause long term problems?

I mainly want to have the pops and bangs in every mode but do not think it's possible.

I have the MPE and the only time I notice a difference in sound between that and my old base 16 F82 is on startup. During regular driving there is no noticeable difference in comfort mode so you'll be wasting 4500 dollars if that's your goal.

Thank you x1000 for this info! It was actually going to run me $7100 OTD for the exhaust, rear defuser, carbon tips and carbon rear spoiler. Time to look at other options.

Pull the plug on your valves when they are open. It will get you over the urgency for an exhaust. It’s crazy how quiet it is with valves closed.

Oh shit yeah definitely NOT!!! For 7K you can do much more than just an exhaust/diffuser combo. I bought the car with the MPE and CF tips or else I would never pay for this shit. I got 9k off MSRP so I let it slide.

Edit: I also have almost the same car as you do. 18 ZCP F80 6Spd

So if I was willing to spend 7k what upgrades would you recommend?

-Do not want a tune
-Do not want to loose factory warranty
-Do not want a check engine light

Thanks in advance!

The MPE sound is superior to the stock muffler. If I were in your shoes I would get the MPE but instead of a diffuser, I would get the M Performance HAS. That would make your car look and sound the best without an issue to your warranty.

I vote MPE. Had mine installed before taking delivery. Good sound and great aesthetic. Not to mention you can shed some weight since the MPE weighs less than the stock exhaust system.

I don't think it would make a 7k difference though in what OP is specifically looking for. He wants improved sound in comfort and I personally think the OP would be satisfied based on his own desires.

You can still get a tune and other engine mods without losing the warranty if you go the Dinan route. It's a contentious topic on here but you can do some research and see if it suits you personally. But I'd start with eliminating ASD if you're not into artificial sound and getting a clear bra if not already don't before.

Depending on your goals (aesthetic mods or performance mods), that's a pretty high budget for modding.

+1. AA midpipe added a sportier sound to my zcp. Requires no tune and does not throw a CEL. Also, way cheaper than adding a full CBE (which doesn't net you much power anyway).

I had a 2017 M4 Ultimate Package that included MPE and i loved it , now i got a 2018 M4 with ZCP and 6MT and added Stage TWO HEX Tune with VRSF catless DP and wooow , i prefer that combo by far.

Go to a shop and have them cut off your secondary cats and resonator and have them fabricate a custom x pipe for you. Shouldn't cost more than $5-700 and your car will be exactly how you want it to sound.

source: did this on my zcp. Pm me for sound clips if you want
