New 2018 M3. First M car, wondering what I should do now.
I just took delivery of my new M3 and It's amazing.
However, I'm wondering if there is anything I should be doing now besides what the manual says (Not exceeding 105 MPH, or 5500 RPMs). Is there anything else I could be doing to maintain the engine and ensure there isn't any long term performance drops, etc. Assume I don't have a limit on budget. Again, this isn't for MODS this is for maintenance. |

Also remember that there are many who go out on the autobahn right after delivery and are WOT/high speed and they turned out fine. |

I am sure I took mine to 7k with 105 miles on the clock on my 2018 Comp. Package. If it breaks before my break in, then I bought the wrong car.

Thinking back to my E9x M3 days, an engine which typically did burn oil, there seemed to be no correlation between following the break in procedures or beating on it from day 1 in terms of how much oil the engine consumed. |

I'm in the middle of break in. I'm sure I've "accidentally" pushed it past 5500 RPM, but quickly. As long as you are working the rev range within reason and not lugging, all will be fine. While people are paranoid, I have a feeling these engines are made to run spirited from the factory.

Speaking of post-1200 "stuff" to do...I came across a few old threads in which some owners were using Liqui Moly Jectron fuel cleaner with every oil change? Probably overkill these days with top tier gas, but just curious if people are still doing this for added care and peace of mind? The stuff is fairly cheap and I assume would no harm, question is if there is any tangible benefit.

49k miles not a single drop of oil. I did not follow the manual break in. I don't believe in that. I have broken in 8 sportbike engines with the same method and not a single one has ever burned a drop of oil. But I have always hoped that I was breaking it in to make a powerful engine.

Nice to see a thread where people aren't being ninnys about the break-in procedure. While I agree that there is no true study on oil consumption, the cars that I've driven hard (after warming up) never burned any oil.
