Paint protection film
Hi guys. Just want to know everyone's thoughts on paint protection film. I'm think of getting it once my car is delivered. I've been quoted some prices and it is quite dear. Is it actually worth it? Has anyone got it? Any recommendations on places to it from?

It was done by Invisifim in Cheadle, Manchester. It's not really been on long enough for me to comment on the worth. |

My wife has a 428i alpine white, first Rick it caught created a huge black chip, pisses her off every time she walks in front of the car.
I did full bumper, hood, fenders, mirrors and lights with lumar film on my mineral white f80 and cannot even tell it is there, definitely worth not having the aggravation of chips. |

I think it depends how long you intend to keep the car and also to a degree, what colour you have.
My car is Tanzanite and I've done 6k miles now. I've already noticed some stone chipping on the bonnet and bumper which I'm a bit saddened by. I did contemplate the PPF and in retrospect I wished I'd shelled out for it on the front of the car. Just my 2p.

I did the full front section on my SSII F80 and it is definitely worth investing in. One instance of its benefit was when I was caught in a freak hail storm and no visible damage noted. I also did the rear bumper section that meets the boot lid as this area is prone to damage.

I don't think it's worth it. BMW won't penalise you for a few stonechips when you come to part-ex. And ppf isn't cheap, I got a quote for £2800 for all front and I thought I'd save that for a bonnet respray if chipping got really bad and still have change.

Take a short trip over to Utrecht NE, there is a great dude (Marcel Ruttin) that runs a Xpel shop. I had the whole front clip done with the roof, A pillars and trunk area for about 1800 euro. He does excellent work.

I've had ventureshield on my 335d for 4 years and at 85k miles the front of the car looks brand new. It certainly works, and you'll remain chip free throughout, but only worth it if you're going to keep the car for quite a few years I think.
Xpel ultimate is self healing though so I'd go for that next time as you can scratch ventureshield. You also still need to protect it to get nice beading and easy washing, and to minimise insects getting ingrained during summer. You could keep the money and get resprayed every so often, but it'll annoy inbetween each time you get a stone chip.
