could resist this quote from BMW CCA:
"Admittedly, we Americans love the ferocious roar of a good V8. And the Interwebs, as I say, are full of nattering wannabes who are quick to complain about the muted, anemic sound of the new engine—without ever hearing the damn thing. I even found a forum where they’re whining about the sound of the car because they heard it in a video game. Well, I have heard it snarling off the canyon walls of central Portugal, and I have heard it bouncing off the concrete walls of Portimao Circuit, and if I could have gotten my mitts on the six-speed manual instead of the seven-speed DCT cars, I would have heard it more often, putting in the clutch to rap my mufflers bRAPPa! BRAPPa BRAPPa! Yes, there’s an interesting pile of electronics to transmute the sound into something you can hear inside the car, too, but from outside the car, it’s just a glorious noise that vibrates your innards and tightens your sphincters. When you find yourself rolling down all the windows as you come to a viaduct so you can hit the paddle and listen to the scream as the car matches revs on the downshift, you know that the wizards at M GmbH have done righteous work. And those Internet weevils can bite me.—Satch Carlson" |

Probably the low quality of road pavement and inappropriate weather conditions caused M4 to accelerate slower (just kidding)

go drive a 911 turbo and you will understand how a turbo car sounds. Porsche Turbos sound like a jet aircraft winding up his engine and then boom gone. This car wants to be a N.A engine at heart, but its a turbo. Therefor it has a confused characteristic. BMW wants to change the turbo game, which I applaud them for trying, but its a huge cant be done type of deal.

It may have been just me, but it did seem as if the M4 had just a tad bit deeper roar in the higher RPM range than the m3 did. The sound was a higher pitch in the M3 in the first video.
Active sound at work, or the extra windows in the M3...either way |

I'm sure when you guys start to take delivery of your orders, most of you will love the new sound. More importantly, the M3/M4 looks sooo much fun! Can't wait to see more of you guys with them. I was skeptical about the sound, but I'm really loving it. Can't wait so see what M performance exhaust does for it.

Quite sad actually that you have to roll down the windows to hear the exhaust
Same w the F3x 335i w chip and pe exhaust still have to roll down the windows to get some sound Perception of speed and craziness equate Out to fun I'm sure the f8x is fast but was partially neutered in the process |

yes....i dont think if anyone noitced but on my 135i with dct, if u put in manual mode with traction completely off, mash the gas, the car will rev to 6-7k and drop the clutch. Thats like smokey burnout .launch mode u have to be in sport with traction half off. RWD of course. Bet ya someone is gunna go try it after reading this LOL. The m3/m4 is sick. It gets up to speed really fast. I think it sounds great for being stock. You guys gotta stop hating. Wait till a catless downpipe and cat back exhaust are put on these cars with a JB tune....ITS GOING TO BE INSANE!!! Sound and speed!!!
