Again we can see that power costs at the pump wether you get it from an I6 turbo engine or a NA V8. The M4 doesn't only get significantly worse mpg than the relative small NA engine in the Cayman, it gets worse mpg than the NA V8 in the heavy Audi... It's worth repeating that lower emissions and production costs seems to have been the main targets here not lower mpg. Nice to see that it's the overall winner. I'd still have the Porsche if I didn't need four seats.

As for what's my point? I don't expect anyone on this forum to care about the RS5 (that would be silly) but curious to hear what are thoughts on the change in wording from the magazine write-up to the online version in regards to the M4? The online versions seems slightly less enthusiastic about the M4 than what was printed in the magazine. If you're 'long hair, don't care' then no need to voice it. Example: Online for M4 Quote:

People should realize that all he's trying to do is comment on what he sees as inaccuracies in the review relative to his experience with the RS5 which is a great car. Nothing different than what any of us would do if the negative comments were for the M. At this level, all of these cars... RS5, C63, Cayman, M3/4... are fantastic and the differences in performance are not as dramatic, IMO, as reviews like to make them out to be (although drama sells magazines ). They are all "relatively" close in performance so the differences between them in reviews is often somewhat attributable to feel, personal preferences and perception of the reviewer IMO.

I don't think what I said in my original post was offensive. It was my true feeling after reading half of his post. |

But hey, if it's one thing we do in this forum is immediately jump into full defense mode when something is negatively said about a car we like, whether that be a BMW, MB, or Audi. The RS5 makes my head turn everytime I see one on the road, I think it's stunning in a subdued sort of way. If I could have a couple cars in my stable, it would be there. But I'm not rich, so I guess I'll just have to do with the M4. |

I also probably wouldn't have said anything if I didn't receive the open invitation lolz. It's all in good fun. As cars enthusiasts were a dying breed and no matter what the badge on the front says we should support car enthusiasts no matter what they drive because competition is good for everyone.

RS5 is an ok car. It looks really good but it's heavy and not as responsive as M3 cars (last 3 gens). Engine is nice but its transmission is lazy.
Interior is also not that good with the big snifter covering up half the controls/displays in the middle. Also the back seats are useless, might as well be a two-seater. |

Convenient that, while noting an interior design flaw of the Audi, you neglect to mention the hideous pseudo-iPad crap that you are forced to buy an ///M 3/4 with. I ordered my E92 M without the nav because I hated the "double bubble" dash look. I hate the cheap tacked-on-not-an-iPad look of the M3/4 dash. Can't stand it. Really sucks that you cannot order a car without it. |

In SoCal???
Dude... Fontana (in Pomona) aka California Speedway Willow Springs in Rosamond Streets of Willow - on the Willow Springs compound, Rosamond Buttonwillow (a bit further but still drivable from most of SoCal) A bit further north... Laguna Seca (in Salinas/Monterey) Infineon Raceway (formerly Sears Point) in Sonoma I am sure there are others but even just the 4 tracks I listed in SoCal are awesome enough ... Just do it! |

Does anyone else find the comparisons to the Cayman a little weird? I would have expected a 911 in this comparo - and totally unfair to the Audi, which is what, 6 years old at this point?
I would expect it to go Cayman S vs. M2 (next year or whenever) and M4 vs pick your version of 911... Good article regardless - the M4 seems to be an awesome performance machine that's wrapped up in everyday usability goodness.
