What's the point? Why tie up a deposit in something that isn't even available until summer 2014? Will limited numbers be available or something?

Since the car is not even officially released, production dates are just guesses. How many allocations a dealer gets is a big influence. I was #3 at my dealer 8 months ago, so #1 is good.

Yep I have a F82 order spot reserved and I have one of the 1st spots. The same as when I ordered my first E92 and my wife's E93 335 & 335is.When it is available is not a big issue for myself as I still have my E92 M3 to drive.

FYI, my dealer just let me know that production will start middle of March and I will need to finalize my options in the next 2-3 weeks. I switched from M4 to M3 and not sure if they have the same production start date or not.

Amazing how much bullshi* flies around, especially from sales people. No information on options or ordering will be forthcoming to any dealer prior to the official launch at NAIS in 1 1/2 weeks, but it may be well beyond that. Before you commit to anything, make sure you personally see him pull it up on the BMW ordering system. And, March sound way early from everything else posted from reliable sources.

Sounds like dealer is taking an educated guess to me. My dealer has a launch car order with a prod date in March that was offered to me. I expect ordering guide to be out within next 3 weeks and certainly would be surprised if announced before launch.

My guess is that the ordering guide and pricing will be out around the same time as NAIAS in Detroit.
