True confessions from M3/M4 owners - what's yours?

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
I'll start.

I drive in sport+ (throttle) mode with the exhaust valves wide open all the time. I never ever shut the exhaust valves even though I have a controller.

Since hitting 1,200 miles, I only drove in regular sport (throttle) mode once for about 5 minutes, and then said to myself, "fuck this, this is stupid." I then toggled immediately back to sport+ mode. Also, I have never started my car without hitting the M2 button first (sport+ throttle, sport steering, sport suspension, D3 and traction control on).

Don't judge me. You don't know me.

Most of my life I'm in sport-plus steering, sport mapping and comfort suspension with all nannies off.

OP, you need MDM in your life instead of TC on.

I can confess to lots of freeway miles in almost 2k miles of driving since delivery beginning of this month. Therefore I was in efficient throttle and sport steering (sometimes comfort) mostly.I save a lot of gas by going this route.

When I get the feeling to drive It fast I have MDM/sport plus/ comfort and sport on both of my M buttons.

I've already gotten a ticket for 80 so I will definitely be driving my car in more moderation than other. By the way I only had 500-600 miles at the time on the odo.

I get in my car, power it up, hit M1 (Sport throttle, Sport+ Suspension and Steering), and then fire it up before closing the door. The "roar" on start (ZCP version with flaps open) is awesome and worth sitting in the heat a few seconds longer

I've been driving with TC off for the past month and have a new appreciation for the car and the power. I'm driving it a lot differently than when I had the nannies turned on and it's much more exhilarating . I highly recommend!!

- I've only opened the hood twice in 50k miles
- I like the active sound
- I left my roof rack on all winter and f'd up the clear coat on the roof
- My bumper guards are chewed up a bit and I don't care
- I thought Lups had a pretty bangin bod for an ol' lady

Guys this thread could be pretty fun if we just stick confessions and resist the temptation to debate. If you don't have anything to confess, awesome, but maybe just take your upright and righteous self to another thread.

I think the exhaust sucks no matter how you augment it or what package you have.

My comments are all from first hand experience owning the car 2 years and spending way too much money on different exhaust systems.

I just got back from driving my brother's GT4 at mosport, and when I got back to driving my F80 DCT I realized that I like DCT a lot and don't miss driving MT at all. I also think the GT4 would have been faster if it was PDK

I'm glad that's how I feel (would've sucked to come back really regretting not ordering 6MT) but at the same time it's sad because I full believe now that DCT/PDK cars are better

This is the worst sounding performance-car I have ever driven...but it's really, really nice to look at.

This car sounds like nothing I've ever heard before in a performance engine - it's most comparable to a diesel, but not that either, and I agree with dmk08 that if you don't like it, you really can't cover it up. Motor Trend commented that it's like covering up a fart with Glade.

M1 = sport +, sport, sport, tc on, D3. As soon as I leave my block I toggle to M1. My neighbor tells me he can hear me accelerate away from the corner and he grins.

I did! so except in certain places I drive with full TC on - the E9x was Euro MDM daily, but not this car, it's too unpredictable

Most of my miles are driving absolutely nowhere...just random circles around my town and neighborhood. Then I get home and realize I have to go get something and shit, I can't sit in the car anymore lol.

This car cost me about 1/2 of what I originally bought my house for. Also, I have not gotten mine yet (should have it in about 2 weeks), and reading the owners manual, cars have really changed since I bought my last car in 2005. Have to admit, I am a little intimidated, scared of doing some stupid, and overly thrilled at getting it at the same time.
