I was thinking the same thing!

I think (to me at least) is that the sound doesn't change as much as it goes through the rev range on the S55 as it does on the N55.

A dark day when a 135i sounds better than the M4. Yeah the new M4 is a bigger improvement to the e92 but that sound is BRUTAL!! I don't think I could do that sound for long, i think I'd kill myself.

What's going on inside of the engine to make the s55 sound so mechanical?

Actually, has anyone taken a look at the specs on the exhaust side of the turbos? This car sounds heavily muffled by the turbos, and mechanical from the engine. But I bet if someone gets some larger, unrestricted downpipes on this car, it'll sound a lot better.

That's the way I feel, so far Akrapovic seems to be the best solution although the price makes it a non factor for me.

Stop ...please just stop with these new M3/M4 exhaust vids. It sounds shit OK.

A+ for the effort for the mod - well done but it actually sounds better stock imho. Stop until an exhaust manufacturer can make it sound at least as good as an N54...

That N55 sounds excellent in comparison.
