Who tinted and who didn't?

How much did you pay for windshield tint only ? My installer is asking 200 bucks which i find it expensive

$50-60 extra for the windshield. I could see paying maybe $75 because the installer has to use the larger width roll of film. Installers that charge way more than that are capitalizing on the illegal nature of windshield tint and the fact that most shops won't do it at all. Cash money deal and don't ask questions.

I have a black f80 that's pretty much the same as yours on the outside with 3m 5% if you wanna see that.

I am not very happy with the tint job as i see very minute bubbles and although the installer touched it up he was BS'ing that its normal and nothing is perfect, now these minor spots/bubbles are not even visible from 6 inches outside the car but if u look at it minutely it will be visible, its not bad but i am very picky. For future reference should tinting be done in a 4 door closed room not to allow any moisture getting in ,this tinter is a reputed one but its a 3 sided closed place and the back is open.

Did your guys' installers cut around or tint over the third brake light on the rear window? Is either method recommended over the other? I am getting my M4 tinted tomorrow and am trying to decide which way to go. Pics would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Mine tinted over it. If you tint around it, you're gonna have this weird cut out on your window, this is more noticeable on darker tint.

anyone have a BSM with 20% all around? searched the whole thread didn't see any. thinking of doing this but not sure if it's too dark. 35% all around doesnt look dark enough IMO.

50% is our legal limit on the driver and passenger front windows. It's so annoying as you can do 35% on the rear driver / passenger but then it doesn't' look even and 50% really isn't dark enough. i haven't seen one picture or someone reference 50% in the entire thread. everyone seems to get 35% or lower.

I also didn't see much reference to Xpel tints - anyone have them and are they worth the premium? I have one shop quoting me $320 for Llumar CTX or another shop quoting $485 for Xpel XR and I think $550 for the XR Plus. The Xpel shop uses a plotter and the CTX shop hand cuts and uses the window as the template.

I’m getting mine done now, I don’t like too dark, I’ll get the legal limit for the state of MA which is 35%. I got ceramic tint I was very happy with this in my last BMW.
