BM3 IN Oz?
G'day guys,
Anyone had experience in recent time running BM3? I went past Millennium Motorsport here in Brisbane today and I can't say it filled me with confidence! Couldn't even find the reception area to get in, I'd say it was closed if it wasn't for one of the roller doors being open... no one about and the place looked like a shit fight! Tried phoning them yesterday and left a message, tried again when I was in the street with no luck. Cheers, |

Custom tuning on the M3 is very difficult given the location of the ecu and what a pain in the arse it is to remove. If they are doing in a day rather than a week, chances are you are getting an off the shelf remap.
Off the shelf isn’t necessarily bad as it may have been optimised on a test car. Last edited by drgmt; 11-10-2017 at 06:43 PM.. |

Often a file seller will only sell to certainty shops based on a whole range of criteria.
Having said that, with the correct tools, it’s not hard to read any flash file off an ECU reverse engineer and sell again bypassing any lock codes. |

My ECU got fried a few years back when flashing back to stock. Luckily the tuner bought a new ECU for me circa 3K and had it towed to and coded at the dealer for me. You need to have confidence the tuner can deal with all these issues should they arise. I should note he paid for it all and my car was out of my hands for only three days.

If a person is still in warranty, the tuner would need to know or have a contact within BMW service to code the ECU to the car. This will be a very tricky interaction and you may well loose the warranty. If out of warranty the dealer will charge a good 1K for the coding process. Pay to play ! The ECU getting lost is highly unlikely with registered courier. Bricking it though isn’t that rare. If the ECU is fried, one should ask the local tuner if they will cover it. If not then it needs to be factored into the cost. Quote from a local dealer for a spare ECU wasn’t close to $1895 when I checked. Once flagged your warranty is gone unless it’s out of warranty in which case it’s irrelevant. Last edited by drgmt; 11-12-2017 at 05:40 PM.. |

I haven't yet and the wait is killing me. Only had run in service yesterday and I'm about to go away for a few days so next Thursday is the earliest I can get anything done.

Had a look at the Facebook page and Web site, can't find much else on them. Still curious on what they're charging and experience with the f series cars/BM3. Cheers, |

Hex stage 1 done, gains as advertised, around 65 hp at max, up to 90 hp gains in the mid. Torque gains around 107 ft lb in the mid. Only driven about 25 kms back into the city but the drivability seems real nice driving like a citizen. Nik took me for a quick drive when I picked it up and holy shit it pulls hard! Very happy with the service, the setup at EMS is top notch.
Looking forward to the drive back to Brisbane to really get a feel for it. |

Hi all. Finally got BM3 working on my car after a mix up with the activation code/unlocking the VIN in the Bootmod3 servers. My tuner stayed up until almost 2am talking to BM3 guys to work out what happened. Legend
Custom tune was done and the car feels awesome! Comes on boost so much harder. We did a baseline again before tuning which was 288whp with DP, Intercooler Charge pipe (which was actually lower than the stock run of 296whp we did 3 weeks ago). Different conditions on the day I guess, maybe a bad batch of fuel? Anyway, what matters is the Delta. Once tune it pulled 343whp with a heap more mid range torque. An increase of 20% power and 30% torque. And based on most stock DynoJet readings of 335whp, the 343 I saw on this dyno equates to around 390whp, which is exactly what I expected. Happy days. Tuned by Daniel @ Simply Tuning in Brisbane (07) 3889 9500. They can post in or drive in ECU unlocks as well. They are now a registered BM3 dealer. |
