Rumor: Next Gen BMW F80 M3 F82 M4 Powered by 450hp Tri-Turbo 6-Cylinder Engine
BIMMERPOST NEWS Rumor: Next Gen BMW F30/F32 M3 Powered by 450hp Tri-Turbo 6-Cylinder Engine Musical chairs for the next generation M3's powerplant continues. If Autoexpress' latest rumor is accurate, the F30/F32 M3 is expected to feature a tri-turbo 3.3L 6-cylinder motor. One of the turbos would be powered by electricity (not exhaust gases as with traditional setups). The motor is speculated to produce 450bhp. The F30/F32 M3's body would make use of CFRP to keep its weight down. Dr. Friedrich Nitschke, BMW M's new managing director also revealed the following to Autoexpress regarding the next gen M3: “There will be a bigger focus on very low fuel consumption,” “The new M3 will prove this.” Other Possible M Models Nitschke also touches on a long rumored upcoming M1 supercar. “We have a fantastic history with the M1,” Dr Nitschke said. “The decision on developing this car is open. We’d love to do it.” As for an M version of the Z4? “There’s no decision on an M version of the Z4,” added Dr Nitschke, “but this is something we could do easily.” In addition, he spelled out a keenness for the M Division to “increase the speed with which we launch new models”. A lighter ‘CSL’ version of the new 1 Series M Coupe is on the cards, which could take cues from 2007’s tii concept. |

It is a fight you can't win. They can put as many turbos as they want.

Let's hope this is not true. That sound of a V6 TTT makes my stomach churn.
And yes, that rendering has been around for ages.

That is the question, let's enjoy what we have for the next 3 years and then see what those engineers come up with in Bavaria. |

This would be BMW's middle finger to anyone and everyone who has ever had a HPFP problem.
What a strategy to reconcile your base consumers. The naturally aspirated M3 was practically the only solid performance car in BMW's whole e9x series. Imagine all the N54/55 problems, now throughout whole line-up, bar none. So sad. Last edited by Falafel Combo; 07-12-2011 at 06:41 AM.. |
