Used the wrong charger to charge the battery - did I ruin it?

I might have trickle charged my F80 M3 battery with the wrong charger. It's a Battery Tender charger by Deltran with 1 amp charging power. But I believe it's only for AGM. I bought it specifically for my motorcycle when I used to have it. Didn't know the M3 used a lithium Ion battery so it was plugged in for about a week and a half now. The battery does show fully charged. But did I ruin the battery using the wrong charger. Or am I out 1300 needing a new battery.

If the battery shows fully charged, then you’re probably fine. Now you know to now buy the proper charger.

I hope so. It's almost 2 weeks since it was hooked up. I hope the 1 amp charger didn't degrade the battery life.

Are all your Deltran charger made for lithium or amg. I checked the voltage on the lithium battery in the M3 and it's fully charged after I removed the Batery tender plus charger. Mmm I'm guessing it's ok. I still bought the Ctek charger to be safe.

IIRC, the problem with chargers which do not have a lithium battery setting, is not that it doesn't charge it to full, but that it over charges it - which causes the damage.

no worry, as long your charger is not more than 14.6V
LiFePO4 each cell max charging voltage is 3.6V, there are 4 cells in series in BMW M cars

That's good to know. It was a 1.2 amp motorcycle trickle charger.
