F83 M4 Convertible -lowering Spring Question
I know there are a plethora of lowering spring options for F82 M4 Coupe variants, but I am having a hard time verifying what I can go to without having issues. I have a 2016 M4 F83 convertible, and do not want to go with the H&R sport spring option ( I have just read that they are sloppy). I am interested specifically in Swift-R spec and Macht Schnell ( I called VOGTLAND, who called Germany and they said they didn't have an application for me). Swift said they haven't officially measured out and build a spring kit for the F83 variant, so I wanted to ask the Convertible group if anyone has had success with either the Swift Spec-R's or the Macht Schnell springs on their cabrios?
Anyone that can show me pictures of their convertibles with the lowered springs would get a special thanks. |

I ended up going with Macht Schnell lowering springs. Had a bmw tech buddy do this in 90 minutes on garage. We did the no spring compressor method which was a lot easier so thanks to the guy that posted that install. Wheels go on later this week. |

Well no vendor said they would work, but the installation instructions specifically say it works with the F83 convertible. So to answer your question yes they work. Not specific. Looks great and drives better than stock.

I wanted to show u the result in daylight. Not bad. The ride is stiffer than stock for sure. But still is compliant and not that different like the other versions of springs I had read about. Anyways enjoy the pic.

Like I said its firmer than stock but it's also lower by an inch or a little more. Not jaw jarring. Not bouncy. Firm. Think comfort versus sport. Comfort is more like sport.

ok so I am torn a little....I just got my wheels and tires mounted up, 20" Zito's, TPMS, and Toyo 295/30/20's in the rear ( fronts were 275/30/20).
They are very close to rubbing, I mean its freaking me out. They aren't so far, and I can see that I have about 1-2mm of room for them to move up and down. I fear that the offset of 30 wasn't enough, should have been 32-35 to be tucked. They are flush in the rear. Options to make me feel better include finding a machine shop to lathe 2-3mm on the rear rim hubs away. I can go back to stock springs in the back, as the stock rears were not as gapped as the fronts. I could just go back to stock and sell this brand new set. I also may see if an alignment with a little negative camber will tuck them up and in more. I don't want to be scared to drive her, and I don't want to look like a hoopdee either. Thoughts? |
