The reality is, the Porsche is a sport car first and a GT cruiser second. While the M3/4 is the other way around. The Porsche out of the box is much more engaging to drive pretty much in every dimension.

Debadge the GTS! Porsche has shoved too many words on the rear of their cars lol.

Exactly how i feel when turning left fast and shift fr 1st to 2nd. It just goes like a go-kart. Then once turned, hit it in 3rd on an empty street in a nice weather day and windows down...heaven on earth! I also can't understand why folks complain the 7th gear vs the 6th. Loving mine!

Congratulations and welcome to the dark side, lol. Nice pick up, they are great cars, I love mine and also love our M4. We are a split household of BMW and Porsche. Only thing I would do is debadge the 911 Carrera GTS and leave the PORSCHE. That’s how I got mine ordered, much cleaner look and easier to. Wax, clean, etc. Any P-Car guy worth his salt will know it’s a GTS due to the CLs.

It's a slightly bigger job to debadge because the Porsche text would also need to be removed and re centered. (I do agree on the debadging also)

Also interested in the costs of tracking (and whether OP will bother to because of having a W2W car around)

I like the rear bumper dissertation. For those people that need it spelled out for them.

My initial thought was that I wouldn't track the Porsche, but after driving it around on the streets, there's no freaking way I won't be taking this to the track. I'm already planning on getting it dynoed and weighed for time trials. I think I can easily get it into the TT3 class (10:1 weight/power).

Beautiful Vette. Love the color. Fits that car and it's body lines well. I love vettes and always will.

I'm with you. I retained the "turbo" badging on my car's decklid, in case the park bench wing wasn't enough of a heads up

Let us know how TT3 goes. Do you need to pin coolant lines or has that gone away with the newer cars?

Is the 18 wheeler your track day hauler? The more pics you post, the more questions we have

I think the coolant lines were a 997 thing, but I'm a Porsche noob so I'll check on that. I have two track acquaintances that track 991 GT3's and are setting records left and right so I'll get some tips from them. The one guy actually just set an all time track record at Arizona Motorsports Park in his brand new 991.2 GT3 RS manual. Bone stock except for Hoosiers.

LOL, that semi was just delivering my wife's Vette. I actually have no track day hauler right now. I also traded in my 2016 RAM diesel on the Porsche deal. They gave me more on trade for it, than the M4, and trading both cars in really helped on sales tax. I bought the RAM two years ago for $56K and got $46K on trade for it with 36,000miles on the odometer? Seemed like a great idea at the time, but now I gotta find a cheap tow rig which ain't too easy I'm finding out.

Well, anyway. I took my wife up to Sedona, AZ for an overnight to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary. The GTS did great and was plenty comfortable enough for the trip. Ground clearance was a bit of an issue on some of the trails, though.

Nice find on the manual. I had a PDK. If I would have been more patient and waited for a manual, I might still have mine.

991.1 GTS is an excellent sports car. Its gets addicting going for a spirited drive or track run. Its hard to justify the higher cost of the 911 until you own one, then it all makes sense.

Like somebody else said, Porsche is sports car first GT second. M4 is GT first with some mods.

Congrats, thats a beautiful gts!!! They are very quick and respond well to mods. I would love to get a gt3 myself but my wife would kill me and I don't want her to cash in my life insurance just yet.

The coolant line issue is applicable to the 996 and 997 Mezger motors. So all 996 and 997 GT2/GT3s through 2011 and 996 and 997 Turbos through 2009. Not an issue with the 9A1 in your GTS.

There’s a 46 page thread here discussing the failures:

I had the main coolant line on my 991 GT3 blow out in the middle of no where! It was a fluke though. No damage and easy fix!

A 991 gt3 had some type of oil system failure at Sonoma this past weekend, and spewed oil from T7 to track exist at T10 (causing me to have an off into the run off in T7) Some of the oil ignited (I saw flames coming out from the exhaust area and the bumper cover was burnt).

Probably just a fluke too

I didn't stick around long enough for that.

When we got into the paddock I yelled to make sure he knew there were flames from behind his bumper cover and I got the F out of there.

It's a newer car so I'm sure he'll get the white glove service to fix everything under warranty

Can't have any bad press or social media posts about GT3 having a failure at the track and owner left high and dry

There was plenty of that! Trust me!
Mine was an early production and Porsche spoiled us for all the issues. I received $2000/month for each year the car was delayed from the fires (6 months), full reimbursement for the 18 way seats ($2600), full weekend at the Atlanta Experience Center before it was opened to the public, and they gave me a brand new Carrera S to drive for 4 months until my car arrived.

I can't think of any other company that would do that? Then I sold the car 2 years later for MSRP. Probably the best investment in many years!

I’m taking mine to the track next Saturday, so let’s hope for no carbeques. Seen a fair number of Porsche’s on fire at the track, but none of the newest 991 models yet that I can recall. A handful of corvettes have turned into torches too.

I can’t ever remember a BMW catching fire at the track.

Agreed. Porsche takes care of owners.

An acquitance had engine mounts fail on his 964 (which was many many years out of warranty) after dealer replaced them. Caused the engine to drop on the track.

Full repair cost good willed, plus 10 DEs worth of entry fees as apology
