Following my next car: Individual Hera Mica Blue on Cohiba Brown

Now that things are all set it looks like I can go ahead and create this thread.

Ordering this car has been a long and slightly stressful road (my salesperson has been excellent throughout, don't get me wrong) but the order is finally in and I was finally able to see a VIR with the specs of my car all correct.


The Specs:

Individual Blue Hera Mica Metallic Exterior
Individual Cohiba Brown Interior
Executive Package
Drivers Assistance Package
6 Speed Manual
19" Silver Wheels
Black Kidney and Side Gills

I opt'd not to get Comp Package mainly because I A) don't want 20" wheels and don't want black wheels, and since BMW won't be reasonable and just let me have comp pack with a silver 19 instead of a black 19 they can lose out on getting the extra few thousand from me and B) really only want it for the exhaust burble. Overall, I decided its not worth it.

Timeline:

11/28 - Color Requested
12/6 - Wrong Color Approved - (Petrol Mica, Sorry buddy, wrong Mica, NOT my sales persons fault)
12/15 - Right Color Approved

12/21 - Status 102 - Special Order - Estimated PW18
02/09 - Status 102 - Special Order - Estimated PW13 (Moved up to last week of March)
03/05 - Status 112 - Scheduled for daily production pack - PW13 (as estimated)
03/09 - Status 150 - Production Begins - Estimated Completion 03/29
04/02 - Status 155 - Production Completed
04/05 - Status 160 - Vehicle handover to Sales
04/05 - Status 181 - Handover to distribution
04/05 - Status 182 - Handover to carrier/load assignment
04/16 - Status 190 - Dispatched from AG
04/17 - Status 193 - Arrival at port
04/25 - Status 195 - Shipped from port of exit - Assigned to the WWL Undine
05/14 - WWL Undine has arrived at the Port of NY/NJ
05/18 - Arrival at Dealership

I'm hoping to have the car by Late April or May, but with all these crazy delays I've been hearing about we'll see when it actually comes.

You can trade the 20s for someone with silver 19s, and probably make some money doing so. I skipped the Competition Package on my 2016 and regretted it a few months later so I am getting it on my next F80. Even just the exhaust sound of the competition package may make a big improvement in overall driving experience. Congratulations on your order!

OP, I strongly recommend you get the comp pack. If you don't want the wheels you can sell/trade. Someone will happily take your black wheels. You can also order the comp with the 19's if you want.

I went from non ZCP to individual order as well (but with ZCP). There's more to the comp pack than just burbles.

I really don't get the obsession with ZCP.

I've driven several ZCP cars and fail to see a significant difference. I don't want black badge, don't want black wheels or 20's, don't want to not have lumbar support, I overall just don't want what it offers. Performance wise I can get a lot more for a lot less money too.

This will be my favorite color combo on an F80 ever. You sir have excellent taste. I will second everyone else's sentiments on the Competition package as I have it and love it. But it is your car and choice after all. Congratulations! Can't wait for pictures

Yeah, they're an acquired taste.

I hated them until I saw them in person and then just really disliked them. That said, I'm tired of the 437s so I got the black triple-6 satans.

@smithf80 I have a suggestion how to have lumabr support with ZCP- change your order to a F83. F83 comes with the series seats, but everything else (including extra weight of hardtop) is pure M.

Modding the suspension, MPE, flash tune costs a lot more than the factory ZCP.

Please share you mod ideas.

I love the F83, but I don't want an M4, I like the sexy rear end of the F80 too much.

Also, ZCP doesn't come with an MPE.

He knows ZCP doesn't come with the MPE, the point he was trying to make is on the comp pack you do not need the MPE because the competition sport exhaust sounds like perfection, so money saved

It's possible he doesn't know.

Anyway that exhaust note is all in the tune, not the muffler. The burble can be flashed now without removing the DME and the KW sleeve kit will provide an aggressive look for the suspension.

Well I know for a fact he does know as I know him fairly well and he has extensive insider knowledge on BMW as one can tell from his posts in the past, but sure I guess anything is possible....

As for your solution to the exhaust, that is true, however, not everyone wants to modify outside of their warranty (as a flash will do, DME or OBD). He was giving an option for those who do not want to. My bad for the mix up.

Its all good, and everyone is different, I personally don't see it as being worth it and realistically more than anything just do not want to deal with changing out my wheels. I really really really do not want 20's and don't want black wheels, if BMW would have let me ordered ZCP with silver 19's I would have considered it.
