My side bolster has not worn nearly as much, so ........ eh. I just have to accept the fact that BMW is not focused on interior quality, and that's okay. I've owned RS, AMG, and now M. Audi - really knows how to build a beautiful, high quality interior with a grippy AWD. MB - really knows how to build a super solid, tank-like vehicle with a ton of speed. BMW - really knows how to build a high performance chassis/suspension/engine combo. Works for me.

Make sure meguiars is ok for Napa leather, lots of times its made for other types of leather.
I stick with the more expensive leather cleaner like Einzett, etc. Maybe worth looking into for the future

I started to notice some potential wear in this area and im 100% certain it comes from the action of getting out of the car. When I turn my body to angle out the bottom of my thigh essentially pivots on that area. I made some adjustments for getting into the car to never rub that area, but was only slightly able to make the adjustments when getting out (lifting leg slight when turning). There is still some rub happening, so my guess is its only a matter of time. To bad that part cant be replaced on its own. To be honest wear in leather is the main reason I chose black.

I have not seen a case that severe, however my SO interior does have some wear. Ive noticed it more on the side bulge area .. because the car is low, people slide in and the jeans scrape the leather. My solution is having the seat slightly further back to avoid this when people get into the car.

I have 3k miles and it looks brand new. Full black leather though. I get in and out like an old person. I basically hold onto the curvature of the chassis near the door sills. Lol that way I avoid the wear and tear in the bolster area. I don't even rotate I just lift myself off to readjust my ass. Lol

15k miles perfect seats
i have 15k miles on mine and it still looks brand new, cant imagine who would buy a car like this then treat it like that, dont see how it can get damaged either i have never had an issue with the seats, i do have a 2018 M4 so they might have fixed it but as far as i have seen there is no damage

I bet bottom seat bolster damage is rhinestone or riveted jean pockets and the side bolster is just rubbing agains the bolster getting out bit I've also seen girls belts with rhinestones and rivets mangle the side bolsters in cars.
No men or ladies with expensive jeans or belts allowed in my cars anymore they will f**k your leather up in one go. My dogs haven't even damaged my seats in 10yrs. But I have small dogs under 28lbs and if bigger get in I have a full dog seat cover. Also clean and condition your leather 2/3 times a year mine looked great no cracks after 10yrs on two cars conditioning it very 6mo |
