Upgrading the software level does not have a labor time from Dinan.
It is the dealers discretion on what to charge.

The honest scenario of how long it takes when setting up a suitable battery stabilizer, connecting to the vehicle via Dinantronic program and updating the software level takes about 30 min total.

The only issues that could arise that would take more time is connection issues to the Dinantronic module.

Other then that it is easy and completes quick.

Erik,

Out of curiosity, with no Dinan cold air intakes being sold to California, does that mean that if you live in California, you'll be limited to the Stage 1 Dinan upgrade, or will Dinan allow a Stage 2 upgrade with another brand of CAI?

You can run the stage 2 without the Dinan intake (or with a competitor brand if you like). You simply will not get all of the stated advertised gains of stage 2 is all.

You can run another brand intake and utilize stage 2 software

I wish someone would dyno the stage 1 vs the stage 2 without any other modifications.

I've asked Dinan to provide such info, they won't. They told me they don't have enough time to provide all possible outcomes within their product line, or something to that effect. So we are on our own for testing. How convenient!

If anyone in SoCal has just the stage 1 and 2 without any mods then we will dyno the cars for free and post results.

I am going to try to get my Dinan Stage 2 with dinan intake and exhaust dynoed. But It's a matter of finding the time to do it.

I have a stage 2 client with no mods.
I'll ask him when he comes in next week if he would like to get a dyno done at EAS for comparisons.
Not sure if he will but I'll ask

If both Stage 1 or Stage 2 are fine on a car with no other mods, then what's the point of the Stage 1? Also, if the Dinan intake is not for sale in CA, does it mean it's impossible for someone to have the Stage 2 in CA while still being covered under the Dinan supplemental warranty?

That is a question for the Dinan rep on the forum to answer, that way nothing is misunderstood.

They stated earlier in the thread that you still keep warranty with stage 2 and no cai you just don't get all the advertised gains. They even said you could use a different brand cai if you wanted to achieve full gains.

So residents of the state of CA will not benefit from a Dinan stage 2 upgrade because they will not be able to buy the Dinan CAI that reportedly adds the 14hp & 21tq? Is this accurate?

Also, the Dinan exhaust isn't that great to be honest. It's not a full cat back and sounds like stock. For only $1,000 more you can get awe which sounds 10 times better and gives you bigger gains! 3 inch piping and a growl!
Umm...the Dinan exhaust does not sound like stock...it has a deeper tone and a nice growl to it. Pair it to a set of mid-pipes, and the sound is insane.

And....it looks great.

That's not true, you can buy it and get the same gains as everyone else.

To be clear here, you still get a bump up of 14hp* & 21tq without the Dinan CAI if you go to the stage 2? Is your source on this info Dinan or a set of dyno pulls?

*Somewhere in the hp mix the FFE adds +5

I spoke to Dinan on the phone. I have stage 2 without the intake. You can still get the same bump in power as you get an extra 1 PSI increase and the intake adds no real gains as they said. So without the intake you'll still get some gains and for only $250 it's worth it in my opinion. Any intake you do will give you the look and sound, but probably won't make a difference in power or at least you won't notice if it does.
