I dunno about you guys, but this 2011 steering wheel in this video looks thick enough:

This is getting OT but the one on the right in the link is the stock 335i sports pkg wheel (thinner, not squishy at all and does not have the tricolor stitching).

Just measured my 2011 DCT steering wheel (I'm on vacation and bored, OK ). Measured diameter at 12 o'clock was 39mm.

So they are the same 08 to 11 and DCT vs 6MT.

I guess you're right. The only thing left to do is for me to go down there and measure the steering wheel on the car i drove!

Maybe someone at BMW f'up and stuck a steering wheel on the M3 made by Porsche... those are the skinniest damn steering wheels in the performance car segment!! I drove a 911S today and the steering wheel reminded me of my wife`s Hyundai Veracruz. It was horrible... if I ever buy a Porcshe I will need to budget for an aftermarket steering wheel.

Porsche gives you an option for a smaller, thicker wheel for like $1200 or something like that. Like everything on a Porsche, things that should be standard are extra cost options. Great vehicles, but I really hate how they nickel-and-dime you to death for every little thing.

How about $550 for body colored mirrors?

They have great feel though...

Yeah, they should be more "substantial".

The thicker wheel isn't that much thicker either! I had a Porsche wheel custom wrapped in Alcantara and built up to M3 thickness, about 4 3/8". Made a huge difference in driving enjoyment. The M performance wheel is a huge bargain to the prices you need to pay for P car accessories.

OP-The thicker the steering wheel-the less information gets transmitted through the wheels. I'm all for the thinner wheel.

I knew it! I'm telling you, the CA and I could easily tell a difference. Again, it was the first thing I noticed when I sat in the car.

Those seem to be the parts for just the Y-shaped trim insert.

DCT steering wheels are thicker because they are faster.

According to Realoem the part# has always been same. My wheel is pretty dam thick on my 3/11 production. Any thicker would be silly.
