All the people complaining of having to pay 2k for a replacement rotor need to look at the bright side..that's chump change compared to the ceramics on 911 turbos! Almost 20k installed for a set. And I believe it was closer to 25 not too long ago. One of the reasons I passed on a few ceramic equipped turbos when I bought mine!!

Sure, if you went over and picked it up for free? If everything was so easy, people would just arbitrage it and do free trips all year long.

They never said they are not covered, these are supposed to last 50-60k miles unless you track it every day. Therefore the maint warranty would have expired already. If you are not planing on using this car as a track only car don't get them. They have the same stopping distance as the standard brakes.

Us goldilocks CCB'ers should plan a NA meet where we can get together and roll around in our blingy brakes without fear of ridicule from our blue-braked brethren

even most newer 991 owners w ccbs switch to steel rotors w race pads On track days. why? because its much much cheaper and hardly compromise performance. be real.. nobody here "needs" ccbs.. |

On the bright side, BMW is only extending the courtesy of CCB coverage to a small group of people who have kitted out some of the more expensive F8X cars. I don't see them screwing the CCB owners over in the event of maint.

What? Very smart you are not. I'm sure everybody would order CCBs if they were a no cost option. $ 8K is just too much for them. |

Of course most people don't want $8k brakes as a paid option. It's proven by the production numbers and makes fiscal sense to a vast majority of owners. It's a choice we all have to make based on means and desire. But saying you are happy you don't own them because they aren't covered when you had zero intentions of ordering them anyway is ludicrous. And canceling them based on a rumor is even crazier. We sure are an odd bunch! I love how you can't be happy you optioned your car with CCBs when it's your own money without the angry blue mob attacking you. I wonder if the individual paint people suffer the same fate because their $5k paint doesn't save weight, isn't covered by maint, and doesn't even look good?

I already posted the Service Bulletin released by BMW last month where they state they aren't covered under the maintenance plan. It's attached to the bottom of this post in case you missed it. SI B000214, dated June 2014, asterisked sentence at the bottom of page 1, carbon ceramic rotors and pads are NOT covered under the Maintenance Program. http://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...8&postcount=81 I know some people keep posting what they're SAs are telling them, that they're covered, but until someone comes up with something in writing that actually counters the Service Bulletin I posted, it's honestly nothing more than wishful thinking and conjecture. I have an F10 M5 with "blue" calipers and had a chance to track "blue" and "gold" caliper'd M5's and M6GC's at COTA in Austin last summer and that is the sole reason why my M4 has the CCB - they are spectacular!!
For 1 or 2 track events a year I don't expect there to be any issues. Obviously, if one keeps the car for 5+ years replacement cost is an issue. I ended up putting a Brembo BBK on my E90 so the cost difference to CCB was an easy justification for me. p.s. - this thread did make me giggle
