So I VO coded GTS GHAS, EPS, and DSC successfully but CS EDC didn't work again. My guess is that my I-STEP is not high enough.

No more errors?

Do you track your car?

I only got the tpms error after coding DSC but fixed it thanks to a post on this thread (I just had to FDL code something DSC module). And yes, I track my car. I have a track day this week and that's why I was trying really hard to get the CS EDC but I guess won't happen.

Does anyone have the type code for the M3 CS? My understanding is change the type code to the M3 CS(I have a f80 DCT ZCP) and then change the EPS and GHAS to GTS or F87CS and that should change the EDC to CS, EPS to GTS or F87CS and Diff to GTS?

Anyone know if it's the same thing for GTS GHAS if you just FDL code DSS TASC and DSS IPM?

Thanks. I used 4S93, FDL changed EPS and GHAS to f82 GTS, then saved changed FDL and then went to 3S73 and went to VDC but there was no option for CS EDC. Unsure what I am missing. I also have a few other coding issues but not related to GTS/CS coding.

Did you enable GTS steering as well? How does the GTS DSC compare to the stock DSC? If you can share your crib notes that would be great. I am looking for doing GTS DSC and steering for my non-zcp 6MT.

I tried different steering settings among ZCP, Non-ZCP, F87 CS, and GTS. I think GTS steering is the best. Not too heavy and not too light in any setting. I would recommend GTS steering. I coded GTS DSC too but I drive my car with DSC fully off both on and off track so can't really comment on the difference.

How did you get over the GTS steering error? I a previous post, you mentioned that the steering became very heavy, and you saw an iDrive error message.

That happened after VO coding the ICM module not when trying to code the steering (EPS module). I thought coding ICM was necessary along with GHAs to get the GTS diff but I guess I was wrong. I don't touch ICM anymore. You can either VO or FDL code the EPS for GTS steering. There won't be any error.

Which fields in the FA file can these be found under? I understand that C_Laenderkennung allows to change the MDM mode between US and Euro, but I am still confused on how to change the rest. Finally, when changing Chassis to F082. Is this step performed just before doing a connect in Esys? Many thanks in advance.

There are not that many sections and only one with chassis and another with 4 character type code. You should be in FA-Editor.

If car is M3 (F080) or M4 Cabrio (F083), then you would need to change to F082. If already F082, then do not have to modify.

If you have copy of FA, then you can do offline. If not, connect, read, save, & change.

Sorry for being slow here. Are you saying that the car should be set to F082 when starting up ESYS at the tokenmaster screen? Also, which file needs to be edited in the FDL-Editor? I enabled Euro MDM in the DCS section today, but its not clear to me as to in which section to make GTS related edits.

Programming and VO Coding does not require Launcher.
You can launch E-sys directly and connect via F020.
Nothing needs to be edited in FDL-Editor. I meant FA-Editor.

I think the confusion is that you are trying to FDL-code, but Almaretto is talking about VO coding.

I did my steering coding via FDL-coding by changing the parameter of "Variantencodierung Normal" in the EPS module. I played with different settings, and finally like the F82GTS setting the best - it is lighter and eliminates the dead zone in the middle.

Hope this helps.

Hey all,

Jumping on this thread as I'm having real trouble VO coding the CS damper settings (EDC) - does anyone have a guide for FDL coding instead?

I've tried the following:
Chassis to F082 (I have a '17 F80 CP)
Type to 3S73
VO code VDC
I get a chassis restricted error relating to sensors - not the zero position but instead something about signals to ICM being missed.

Also tried VO coding ICM - this fails due to 'non executable' error.

Not sure what else to try...

I compared to a friend's new M3 CS today; the chassis/type is exactly the same as mine so VO coding from M3 CS type is clearly not going to work!

The only different relevant SALPA options are 9MR (M sport factory) and 7ME (M drivers package).

Questions:
Do I need to remove 7MA/7MN Competition package or something else somewhere?

Thanks in advance...

What was your friends I-step shipment level? If your psdz database isn’t new enough then it will be impossible to code CS settings. Lastly, yes, you should remove the 7MA/7MN option given that the comp package DSC and VDC coding parameters are mutually exclusive with the parameters used in the CS.

Don't have access to the file right now but it will be newer - his was a March '18 build (mine has July '17 software).

Updated my post: You definitely need to remove the 7MA/7MN option.

I would also add add the 9MR and 7ME options. Another concern would be related to the potential lack of carbon ceramic brakes. Make sure the DSC is configured to the appropriate brake config. Lastly, you would also want to code the non-CS TPMS settings back in the the DSC module. It should be noted that FDL coding would negate most of these concerns.

That's good info thanks - I'll try adding the options you mentioned and VO code the VDC module.

Carbons ceramics are still an option on the CS so that shouldn't cause issue.

I'll report back when I've had a chance to test out.

Much appreciated.
