The thing is, it's more kind of a morbid curiosity than anything. Does not mean all the lookers at the track would want one. I can easily afford one, but after seeing it up close once, I just walk right past it now when in my local dealership. It's just not for everyone. The aesthetics are not BMW's best work. That probably peaked with the M1, Z8, and 1M. The E92, F80 and F87 are honorable mentions.

As a investment I think you are better of buying a e46 CSL or a E92 GTS, back then there was no big "hype" about this cars, no buying cars just for resale and hyping the prices up.

Now when I see here in Europe people asking for 200+ k for a M4 GTS, just feel alot of them where bought on pure speculation on just making profit.

The same hype is now happening with the GT3 RS mk2. Allocations are being fought on which will later be resold at x3 x4 price.

That is why Europe and China will be buying what is left here and it already started (close to $75,000 spread in offerings.) There are now a number of ads for US dealer inventory on French sites. France only got 15 of them on the first round...

It's possibly polarizing to look at, but I have not ever seen a car that gets more attention at C&C than this GTS. That's nice.

What's important, it's such a fun car to drive. Very visceral. Just a great "fun" car. Best BMW I've ever owned, because there is just no distraction from the purpose of this car.

I had a chance to buy one......twice. Almost pulled the trigger Saturday. I think what prevented me was that it would be an in-between car for me. I have an street E92 M3 that is too fast for HPDE unless they have open passing rules. Then will shortly have an E46 M3 race car. But I think the M4 GTS would be a great track day car if that was my goal!

I found my 720hp E92 was great at The Ridge in group A(open pass). The GTS just needed a bit more legs on a couple straights against the modded Vettes there. My wife was actually tracking our E92 that day so I switched back and forth. Fun factor definitely went to GTS by a long way though as well as my fastest lap there. The legs are coming shortly

Yup, that's pretty close. There are certainly dealerships that didn't deserve to have the GTS in their inventory (due to poor M sales history) and what's even mind blowing is that some have more than 1 in stock and still asking over MSRP

You'll find them by looking east of California. Don't forget to remind the sales manger of one thing during negotiations........

Good point!
I would not wait too long though. Warmer days are coming all over the country...and with that, higher demand for sport/track cars in general.

I agree with what others have indicated, if you want a good deal on the GTS just mention the upcoming 991.2 GT3 w/manual transmission.

My Porsche dealer has a 17 person wait list for the GT3. I asked as I was also looking at the GT3 and GT3 RS. You could buy used....

Told you so...
Dealers will take advantage of it and sell the new GT3 way over MSRP

Yes, but the M4 GTS isn't a GT3, nor is it hard to get at this point. How many have popped for sale here site since this the thread started? How many advertised at MSRP (whish tells me the dealer needs it gone, thus I'm driving away with car at invoice pricing). This going to be a ruff year for owners that care about resale value, everyone is just going to enjoy the car for what its.

All this talk of manual over DCT gearboxes led me to a discussion with a knowledgeable Alfisti, about how my first DCT car was and still is an Alfa Romeo 4C, and how I wished it had a 6 speed. He succinctly asked would you rather drive a car with manual spark advance or something that handles timing automatically. Also, can I manually shift a car as fast as a DCT car shifts, my answer to both questions was a resounding no! Just sayin

Very true on 2017 resale value. Currently there's a GTS on Autotrader reduced to $129,995.

That M4 gts is used! Prior owner! Even though it only has 30 miles, the OEM 4 year warranty will not apply. There are no gts available at less than MSRP new.
Average asking price is still way over MSRP on the west coast and soon will be on the east coast. Winter is almost over. Those few MSRP ones will be sold by summer.
Not selling mine for at least 5 years anyway but I bet it will retain more of its value as a % of original price than any other current M. I see some M4 convertibles offered at $110,000. I wonder how much they will be worth in 5 years.
I do agree that anyone who paid more than $150,000 will likely never recover their original investment.
Anyway, this car is made to be driven, not kept in a garage. It is totally worth the money behind the wheel!

No, just referring to a prior post of mine that the new GT3 was going to be sold at a $50,000 premium.
Your posts actually goes in the same direction.
Waiting list=money in dealer's pocket.
Sorry about the misunderstanding.
