BUT, then he compared the M to the Alpina diesel, and several things went wrong. 1 - the tests seemed to set up the M for failure (see the way they used launch control on the Alpina as well as other examples). 2 - he dinged the M for being too sporty of a sedan (F*** me if that's not what it's made for) and having a more aggressive sound (the very thing he dinged it for not doing enough of against the C63 507).

taking that all together, it just bothered everyone that he shamelessly moved the goal posts for not just objective but SUBJECTIVE things (i.e. sound).
Sutcliffe is just one example. Anyone that has anything negative to say about the new car gets bashed/flamed. I started a thread asking opinions of the new car and there were a couple members that had to PM me their thoughts in fear they would get scorched by fellow members.

There's nothing wrong with being critical or pointing out faults. That's what I would expect from journalists. I would want to know what I'm dropping 80k on.

Wow! They can't just post this video for free? Anyone have any links to this anywhere else? Surprised that BMW hasn't thrown this review out to the masses if is review is so positive and glowing...

Pay the $4 you cheapskates. It is excellent content and costs pennies in today's monetary terms. I'm sure you have a few dollars left after putting deposits down on your $75000 cars.

Great review and driving as always by CH.

Thanks for the link! That was awesome!!! I rode the F82 then the E92 for test drives. Both of them were fun drives! But when I came back home, all I could think of was the ride comfort of the F82 and it's torque. From 80 km/h to 150 there is simply no comparison for me. Combined with improved fuel efficiency, all I'm left to say is that I want one. Just can't get settled on deciding the color...

LOL, there's genuine excitement when Harris is hooning that car around the track. Not just another review to him it seems, it was plain fun. SOLD.

Just get the free trial and cancel if you don't want to pay. I wonder if Chris is going to order an M3 now.

I agree with the first sentence.
I was underwhelmed by the powerband of the E90, compared to the 335i which felt faster or at least more accessible power in city driving. So hard to get into the 5000+ rpm range without causing a scene in city driving.
I'm not trying to get ticketed or murder someone because I need to show off or feel the power in public streets... And the E9x begged to be driven irresponsibly.

Yeah, I'm quite aware this F8x M3 is biblically fast. I gotta say tho by the time you got 7.5k rpm's and beyond in the E9x M3 it felt like you were in a Looney Tunes cartoon with an Acme rocket strapped to your ass.

Yes, the S65's revs were addictive. However one difference is you had to wring it out to go fast and you were aware when you were doing it. The F8X is sneaky fast because it goes well under 6-7k. Will need to watch myself for a while.

I just saw the video so the one that is on daily motion worked. It was an interesting video and fun to watch. I kinda like CH as I met him at the 24 hours of Nurburgring and he was a down to earth guy. Not aloof or a butthole. I asked him (back in June) when the video was coming out, we are all waiting for it and excited blah blah blah...and he said yep it's coming soon I know you want to see it just be patient with me as we are working on a few things and thank you so much for your support.

I can definitely respect a journalist that not only journals...but also races the cars as well.

cheers!

I love how Bimmerpost has a line in their TOS saying copyrighted material cannot be uploaded and here they are promoting a copyrighted material on their front page.

That's why got rid of the E92, I just didn't find the rev to the moon powerband all that amusing on the street. To each their own.

I think Sutcliffe is getting stick because his claims are absurd and going against the pretty much every other review. Also his silly stunt pitting the M3 against the Alpina D3, which probably is the most flawed comparison of the year, didn't do him any good.

All cars have flaws, and Chris Harris also touches on a few of them. However, the new M3 is a huge step forward compared to the previous generation, without taking anything away from the E9X. Would anyone expect anything else from BMW?
