This will be merged into a much larger thread soon. Lots of others chimed in.
As for me. I used to have M1 with all sport, but realized it's just as easy to hit the throttle button once and be in the same settings. This saves the M buttons for all comfort and all Sport+ |

I suppose it's not a big deal for some, but the default settings are still a very odd combination of Efficiency, Sport, Sport, and D1.

M1 - sport , sport , sport +, S3
M2 - sport +, sport +, sport +, S3 Anyone have any opinions on why certain settings are better? I've heard that when in sport plus mode for throttle the exhaust isn't as open as it in regular sport mode which is weird

Is there a reason why you don't go to sport + plus mode in m2?

M1: comfort/efficient
M2: sport everything Works for 90% of my driving. Only 10% of the time I'll change to sport+ suspension and throttle. I never do sport+ steering. |

Updated: After reading CanAutM3's thread about using the third profile for track settings (second profile is for my wife), I now have mine set as follows:
Throttle | Suspension| Steering | Transmission | DSC | HUD View Daily Profile: M1: Efficient | Comfort | Comfort | D2 | On | Default M2: Sport | Sport Plus | Comfort | S2 | On | Default Track Profile: M1: Sport | Sport Plus | Comfort | S3 | MDM | M M2: Sport+| Sport Plus | Comfort | S3 | MDM | M The reason that the only difference between M1 and M2 for the Track profile is Throttle is that I tend not to be as smooth on the gas on the track as I should be, so it was suggested that I use the Sport throttle response setting initially. Once I have the track dialed in, I'll switch to M2. Steering Response (Servotronic) is always set to Comfort at the suggestion of several instructors at both PCW and PCE because they say anything other than Comfort adds artificial heaviness to the steering effort and is harder on the power steering pump. PCW specifically instructs students to not run Steering on Sport or Sport+ because they have experienced power steering pump failures due to the higher temperatures they see at that facility.

It probably has something to do with fuel economy or emissions testing. The default settings probably produce the best results (or close enough) and they figure it is easy enough to change with the M buttons.
