MT: Rough clutch release when shifting at high revs in 1st gear

Does anyone else get a rough clutch release when shifting at high revs in 1st?

It's like a *thud* kind of feel?

I get a loud clanking even at low rpm. It's just drivetrain lash.

Okay. I thought I was awful at shifting even though I've been driving stick for 13 years.

Yeah.....the drivetrain lash is annoying but really sometimes just unavoidable. Ugh...."the clanking"......Terrible.

Although, I did once drive a friend's 900HP 911 equipped with an "on-off" clutch system. OMG, talk about un-drivable. The whole car would Shudder and Shake, then "slam" into each gear.

Do you think the lash and noises are bad for the transmission or is it made to withstand abuse much worse than that?
