BRITAIN has voted for its most inconsiderate car owners, and has labelled BMW drivers as the most poorly mannered motorists on our roads.

More than half of Brits voted that owners of the German-made BMW M3 models are the most selfish drivers, according to a recent study.

Conducted by TV channel Dave to launch the show Yianni: Supercar Customiser, the study of 2,000 drivers saw 56 per cent vote drivers of the sporty Beamer saloons to the top of the crass hit list.

Drivers of flashy Range Rover models came in a close second, while motorists behind the wheel of the sporty Audi TT were also considered to have poor road etiquette.

Surprisingly, the Ford Transit, which is often associated with a stigma of inconsiderate driving, was only voted in at number five on the list.

Motorists in London were voted the rudest overall, while Welsh drivers were praised as the friendliest in the UK, followed closely by those in Yorkshire and Scotland.

Emphasising our nation's love of cars, the study also revealed the average Brit will spend just under £19,000 pampering and modifying their beloved motor over the course of their lifetime.

And motorists weren't shy in revealing their obsession with their vehicles either.

More than 60 per cent claimed their car had a personality, while 53 per cent admitted to giving it a name. Incredibly, 40 per cent even said they loved their car more than their in-laws.

Luke Hales, general manager of Dave, said: “Our affinity and love for cars means we love to give a personal touch to our motors, whether it’s a human name that brings out the personality, a custom modification or pampering and tinkering with the body work and engine."

it can be i agree.. except normal people quite a lot of people drives BMW's like mafia, mafia wannabes, got rich from something over a night, and think they re the best drivers mostly.. but it really really depends on countries traffic behaviours and habbits also.. sometimes people really overreacts and i can not imagine how it d be to drive like a paranoid.. when i drive like im driving in Istanbul in Ukraine people think that im looney.. if i drive in Istanbul like i do in Ukraine people think a nanny drives the car horns looks etc.. lived more than a year in italy.. if i drive like in Italy in Istanbul especially at intersections someone probably hit me while im trying to give the road to another car.. sometimes people miss the point of going fast and driving dangerous also.. most of the time we dont drive for joy only.. everyone wants to go somewhere probably asap.. instead of stubborn acts etc fast solutions ll be better to everyone..

I could be labeled a rude driver. Here's what happens.

I'm in the right lane getting ready to exit. I'm behind a slow driver. I put on my blinker, check to make sure the slow car in front of me doesn't have their blinker on. Sweeeet, all clear. I enter the exit lane, downshift and hit the gas. Wait a minute, the car in front of me (now to the left of me and only slightly in front) turns on their blinker and simultaneously starts to head into my lane. So, I hit the brakes to give them room. They finally notice me, so they then turn their blinker off and pull back over left. I wait a few seconds, and then continue to (quickly) pass them and exit. 50% of the time when I look back I get the finger. This exact thing happens several times a month.

And I'm rude?!! I wonder how many of us are perceived as rude for similar encounters.

My favorite BMW marketing sentences was "BMW, for those that take driving seriously, and to peacefully co-exist with those that don't"

every f series i have come across in sydney is super nice always giving way and i am reciprocal.I have seen a lot of dangerous driving from e92 335is and the 6.2 c63s ( great car )though.No matter what stereotypes don't go away quickly plus your not going to notice a 100 good drivers but you will probably notice the 1 bad driver so all these surveys are crap.

The worst drivers are the Golf R34 drivers, they keep sticking to my butt all the time. followed by the arrogant Audi RS drivers. I'm a decent BMW M driver, the only thing I don't know how to do is to use my turn signals.

It's just such a stupid statement, there are 37,500,000 vehicles in the UK and only around 20,000 of them are M3s (that's all variants since introduction of the e30.)

So a car that represents 0.0005% of the licenced traffic is the worst driven?

Dude, this happens to me on a daily basis.

As soon as I start to try to pass someone suddenly they want to change lanes, too.

And also, whenever I'm following at a safe distance I get people changing lanes literally 2 feet in front of me and I give them a fucking high beam flash for spraying my car with rocks.

And then I get the finger.

I live in Austin and we have some of the most ridiculous drivers on the planet.
The amount of people that drive slow in the left lane has turned into an epidemic. And the morons don't realize it is illegal. SO when I have to flash my lights or tail them to move the right, I am the "asshole" in the M4....
