Yeah, YMB is a real sleeper! . If you line up that three, SO is the least eye catching. SS & MM(rounding off the M specific colors) are the real crowd blenders. And just for the record, which I couldn't believe till living with It, SO hides the dirt exceptional well...Likely only bettered by SS.

You've captured what the SS does do well, under direct sunlight, a blueish hue that is special to this M specific color.
But it's this blue tint under certain circumstances that kept me from a BMW silver. I've actually seen SS have a green tint as well under heavy tree lined streets. It's a great color but just not a true silver in the classic sense.

SSII is a great color. For ultimate stealth (well, as much as the F80 allows), I suggest MG. Stealth is exactly why I chose this color. There is no way I can deal with maintaining black paint. I was mildly worried that since MG is a dark gray it would show swirls more than my other gray Ms (which are lighter), but that has not been the case.
Have fun deciding!

SSII if you are sticking with stock colors.

Why spend $70k+ only to blend in with all the other boring cars on the road?
My current M3 is YMB. I am a dad and I DD the car. I never have had a color like this before. And now I can't imagine going back to basic black/red/silver. I love it that much.

Seriously, thank all of you for your feedback (including the amazing pictures). I spent some time going to a few dealers last night as was able to view quite a few of the available F80 colors. A few thoughts... YMB is a stunning blue. I completely get why people love this color. It stands out without being too in your face. BSM is a classic look. It is stunning when clean (probably the best color in my view) but I could never deal with the maintenance. AW shows off all the lines and epitmizes the M3 in my view. Low maintence and will never go out of style. MG is the under the radar color. So beautiful. So I guess I am saying that this car is an absolute stunner in every color. I have never experienced a car that looked so good (and for different reasons) in every color. With that, I am going to stick with the SSII. I love the classic look in a light color that is not very common (I realize silver is common but I do agree with folks that the SSII is a special silver). I love the contrast with the carbon fiber roof. Good to go with this color combo! One question for the group. I saw several F80s that did not come with the executive package but still had the hexagon LED headlights. I thought those were only a part of the executive package. Below is a link to one of the cars that I saw where this was the case...any insight? https://www.bmwofdevon.com/new/BMW/2...573746f9a5.htm Last edited by Grant1210; 12-12-2017 at 07:27 AM.. |

Not to mention when Florian Nissl, BMW M3/M4 Exterior Designer, and Domagoj Dukec, BMW’s Head of Exterior Design, were asked what the best color for the M3/4 is, they replied:
"Silverstone II Metallic outlines the remarkable sculpture of the M4. From the character line running from the rear to the front creating shadows and 3D views, to the dynamic lines across the hood, the M4’s design is best represented through the unique silver paint job." http://www.bmwblog.com/2014/10/16/20...ic-photoshoot/ |

When you order the car without exec package you will sometimes get the hexagon lights if they don't have the regular ones in stock. |

I am sure this is stupid but I really don't like all of the little sensors around the bumper for the PDC. i do like the cameras and the adaptive lights. Already getting extended leather so I guess that comes off the $4,100.
