So I was messing around today getting videos together to post of the ZCP exhaust and while I was at it, I happened to shine a light down into the exhaust tips to see if it looked any different than my MY15 non-ZCP. Turns out, it does. There are perforations inside the exhaust that I'm certain weren't there on my old M4. Something is indeed different in the sound attenuation. These perforations could have been added in MY16 and have zero to do with the ZCP, but I thought I would mention them.
Can somebody with a MY16 non-ZCP have a look inside the exhaust outlets to check theirs? I got the best shot I could using my iPhone. There are a lot more perforations inside the muffler, but I could not get a good angle to capture them with my phone. |

5 videos added to the first post. We ran out of time and due to the time constraints, I had to use an iPhone 6s+ for the video. While it isn't the best quality, it is decent. Use a set of headphones or earbuds to get a better idea of how it would sound IRL.

Those are there, but not pictured here. These perforations are on the pipe coming from the exhaust can (closed valve route). I'll see if I can get a better shot of the inside. It looks different from my 2015 as far as I can remember. I looked down into my 2015 at one point when I was having valve issues from a software glitch when I first bought the car (dealer had to update all of the modules to make them work again).

The OP stated valid opinions and the reasons he had them. I enjoyed his review as I enjoy all owner reviews, whether I "like" what is said or not I always learn something from each review.

I'm starting to think that the difference between the non-ZCP and the ZCP "Sports Exhaust" is different sound attenuation and possibly a different sound-deadening material or a different amount of it. This would also help account for the extra 3lbs the ZCP setup weighs over the non-ZCP. Whatever it is, it is working as the ZCP exhaust sounds phenomenal and rivals a lot of aftermarket setups. |

I guess Top Gear should be thrown in the trash as well - they called it "transformative" - so clearly they can't be trusted any more.

The BMWUSA configurator describes the Competition Package as having a "more direct steering ratio". Can anyone who has driven pre-ZCP and ZCP versions comment on this from personal experience?

I still have my stock 2015 exhaust in the basement, I'll go have a look.

Cary,
Do you have any clue as to the tires? The 15's had specific BMW PSS, I need a new rear one when she arrives in a couple weeks. I could not find them on Tire Rack. BMW specific anyway. Here's my sidewall. Not sure how it happened during our trip. |

As far as I know, the ZCP PSS tires are the same design as the non-ZCP F8x PSS, just in a different size as opposed to the 18 and 19 inch sizes. So, to get a matching tire for the ZCP, you'd have to go through BMW. |

Honestly, the steering feels about the same to me. I didn't even mention it in my review. I only use the comfort setting, but even the other settings felt the same as compared to the 2015.
