new 328 vs 335 vs yet to come M3.....

ok guys... Been watching reviews of the latest 328 and 335 and I get the overall conclusion that for whatever reason, the 328 is superior in its class compared to the 335. Not quite sure what to think of this really... doesn't make very much sense to me. Yet quicker, the 335 seems to be hammered in every other rating their has been. Now... I don't know if this was just the reviewers opinion as I have not driven either, but the S4 dominated the 335... I am hoping that being the first year it is them working out the kinks and to combine maybe feedback on both of these cars for the new M3/4. From the previous 335 being at the top of its class... im hoping this was some form of just trial and error in order to get the best car in the later years of the model. We all know the electric steering has been a complete failure... the differential is... quite there... peak power is not the greatest.... I feel like they are just playing around with things to see if going over to some of the new technologies could play to their benefit as it would save on costs by sharing parts. anyone have any thoughts after this rant??

BMW broke all kinds of sales records in May after a year-to-date increase of sales each month over last year. Which means that whatever they are doing -and not doing- is working. Regardless of the electric steering, 4-cylinder turbo, increase in prices, not winning magazine comparo tests.

Thus the real question is: how significant is the size of customers that really consider these factors as negatives at the time of buying any BMW?

You should go drive one, it will give you a new perspective. That's what I did.

The GF got the 328. It is a blast to drive. The little turbo four banger packs a punch.

My wife drove the 335i and the S4 and she decided to go for a 2013 335i M-Sport, fully loaded.

She said the S4 was a bitch car.

Not sure what to think either.

BMW sure does great motors, their inline-six is worldwide know for it's smoothness and fiability, but for me personally (along with many other spanish BMW enthusiasts) the 4 banger can't never be equal to the inline 6 N/A.

I see what you're saying, but I would rather pay less $ on gas for equal performance.

again I am going strictly off the reviews I have seen. I can't imagine that the S4 is that far superior... or at all. Now that is what made no sense to me. It was just interesting as the 328 was the car they were raving about. Hard to comprehend from what the previous 335 was. Still this is their opinion which could differ from mine or anyone else who actually steps behind the wheel. Would like to see Top Gear do a review on them.... really hoping the M3 can quiet all the reviewers and get back to the good ol benchmark setter.

According to German carmag Autobild the whole new 2015 7 series will have a N55 with power raised from 326DIN HP to 340DIN HP. So the N55 isn't at its end of life at all.

Just go test drive them and feel what's right for you, it's a lot of cash without trying all your options. 328i is lighter front end but has less power. But then the reviewers just borrow them and get paid to drive them!

I notice all the reviews that rate the 335i below that of the S4 tend to be US reviewers. In the UK they don't seem to rate the S4 as highly just picking one out of the air e.g. http://www.evo.co.uk/carreviews/evoc...s4_review.html

Plus you are comparing a standard 3 series with an S badged Audi (I know not what tweeks Audi makes to put the S badge on it). BMW has yet to name or detail anything of its S range competitor the M performance 3 series... but you could probably bet your existing car there will be one. They have trademarked M335 M340 and M350 plus M have confirmed the Tri-Turbo diesel engine fits in the F30 chassis "easily". We may even get a diesel and a petrol M performance option - after all there is even going to be an EfficientDynamics petrol edition (!)
