Nokian's not speed rated
I agree with the posts here...the assessment from Kal tire regarding the speed rating is complete nonsense. In fact, I am getting a set of Nokian Hakka R2s from Kal Tire and should see them early this week. The set of four will be a little over $1600. The speed rating of the tire does have an impact on the softness of the rubber compound and that will have a marginal impact on traction during the winter (generally you want a softer compound during the winter). However, it's doubtful whether or not you'd really notice the difference.

Well about 11 M3/M4 will find out soon and @karbonphiber is one of them.
I am still trying to decide if I will run the car in winter or try to get a cheap car instead.

I've used www.replika.ca wheels in the past and have had much success, and you can't beat the price!! They have a 2015 M4 set as well.. pop in a BMW cap from the dealer and your off to the races...

Well I tried my 18" wheels that I have in my garage for my winter setup which did not work thanks to a lack of caliper clearance. So I ended up ordering a set of Replika wheels 19x8.5 with a set of Bridgestone Lm32's 255 35 19 from my friend Mike Samick at Extreme Wheel & Tire in Richmond Hill.At least I will be ready when our roads go to total crap! Now I need to rethink my track setup for next year!

Price is very attractive compare to official BMW OEM Winter package, but I want to make sure that it will fit. People that’s going to buy or bought the Winter Wheel Package from SimplyTire, are you going staggered or square setup? |

Yeah, I would really like to know about the 18" rims as well. Definitely want to go bigger sidewalls in the winters. Given I don't have CCB, I don't see why the 18" will not fit, given US comes standard with 18"??

My understanding is most 18" will not fit even with standard brakes. The OEM 18" wheels have a groove to allow for the brake calipers. I would not get 18" unless they guarantee they will work.

Tirerack *just* posted an official wheel for our cars. Up until today, when I went into their Tire/Wheel selector, nothing would come up. Today, the 18" Rial Quinto is the only wheel that appears. The specs for this wheel according to their site:
Size: 18x8 Offset: 35mm Backspacing: 5.905" Bolt Pattern: 5-120 Rec. Tire Size: 255/40-18 Weight: 25.35lbs. Finish: Bright Silver Paint Manufactured in Poland https://www.tirerack.com/wheels/Whee...tandard+Brakes Cost is a paltry $976 for the set (not delivered) compared to closer to $3000+ from BMW for the 640M. Big difference. I was about to order 640M today until I saw this, which is making me think. Can we trust this recommendation from Tire Rack? I, for one, have always trusted their tire reviews, but I've never actually bought wheels or tires from them. Thoughts? M |

Warmer than expected winter?
Something else to consider--a warmer than average winter for us along the USA/Canada border is predicted!
