I think most of you are missing the point here. An M car is supposed to be the pinnacle of performance for that model line, why in the world would bmw leave it from the factory "un-maxed"? And why does somebody these days have to buy an M car for the true BMW ride? They shouldn't have to, bmw needs to put the true BMW feeling back in their regular line cars before they make attempts at reinventing the M.
And to the guy that mentioned Porsche shopping. Porsche to me is the next step in cars. You really can't compare any Porsche to a BMW. It's pretty much what most sporty bmw owners desire as the next level of performance or next level of car buying power. Nobody says "hmmm my money is right, do I want a Porsche or BMW this year?" There is no question. |

The caveat is I want a convertible and I don't track drive, only canyons every week (i.e. where the heritage of these cars came from in the first place). If I did track drive I'd want a dedicated no frills car: no a/c, leather, and gee should I get the HK soundsystem? In the end the BMW fits my needs better including it's way cheaper. Now if I didn't have access to such awesome canyon roads I could definitely see doing more track driving or auto-cross but it's spendy and canyon roads are covered by taxes ... since I'm already paying for them I should use 'em! |

Hey does anyone know if the gear shift selector add-on comes in carbon for a manual box? I see they put a picture of the DCT, but I will be having a stick, and would love to insert another piece of carbon on the interior to match the carbon piece that runs across the dash, and the one that is perpendicular on the center console.
Thanks! |

I heard that the lights are complementary if you order the ///M strips kit
Now that I think about it, those stripes are more attractive than the graphics on the 997.2 GT3 RS when it first came out |

Probably assumed it was Akra because it's "titanium". LOL. But I hear that Akra is indeed working on an exhaust for the F8x. Any word on this?
Cheers.

Lol.. I'm another +1 to the list of people that got a BMW M over a Porsche.. partly because of some semblance of a rear seat, but mostly because I can't stand the looks. Might as well get a VW beetle.. Other than the Cayman, I find them an eyesore that never changes or goes away (the 911 line). No way would I spend any money on a Porsche (except for Cayman).

I went to BMW today and saw some of the performance parts for the 4 series. I saw the carbon fiber front splitter, side mirrors, and rear spoiler. Until today I was going to get all of these parts plus the rear diffuser. But now after seeing very similar parts on the 4 series I'm not so sure. The front splitter looked "just stuck on" and the spoiler looked like an afterthought (doesn't really fit the rest of the trunk/body correctly). The side mirrors look great tho. I will definitely see these parts on an M4 in the flesh before I buy.

So just make it an option during the build, like the other manufacturers

a "n00b" question, as I never had M Performance parts on any of my cars, what's the exact procedure of getting/installing them when you buy the new car?
1. They are installed in factory/at the dealer and you keep the original parts that you can keep/sell 2. The same as above except the factory/dealer retains the original parts 3. You get the car with original parts installed and then you install M Performance parts on your own |

Performance Parts are installed at the dealer - it is not possible to get them installed at the factory.
But you can keep the original parts and do with them whatever you like. |
