Similar to the BMW Performance Steering wheel electronic display, the Awron display will shut down in extreme temperatures and reappear when cooled down. This typically only happens on extremely hot summer days in when the interior can reach 140F or more.

Installed Awron into our first 2017 M4 over the weekend.

Quick revision on Step 33 for 2017+ models, wire color has changed from GREEN/BLUE to YELLOW/BLUE. Pin position is still same as previous models.

2015-2016 - PIN3/CONNECTOR 10 = GREEN/BLUE
2017+ - PIN3/CONNECTOR 10 = YELLOW/BLUE

Sedan_Clan nailed it. USB is used for SW updates.

Hi,

Thanks for the great post. I have just picked one up to install on my RHD UK model.

Is everything reflected for the RHD install?

Installed today. Took ages and Con3 is difficult to get at in RHD.

Works except for power torque and boost which suggests I've managed to pick out a wrong wire? The power and torque settings are working on the car.

any idea which connector I should check first? Thanks in advance.

Are you seeing values in other areas like battery voltage, coolant/oil temp?

Seems like a false alarm as this morning all values are working . Perhaps it needed a re-boot or something that it only got from a few hours off.

I was getting those other values though so some aspects were fine straight off.

The GPS speed is a very cool bonus feature.

Thanks for getting back to me.

If I already have the M electronic steering wheel will this gauge still work or do I have to pick and choose? I'd be happy to give up some functions of the steering wheel if necessary, since they're duplicated.

The Performance Steering Wheel cannot be used with the Awron display, but offers a bunch more features.

Can you help me understand why this is true? I was independently researching this topic before I found this thread, and below is what Awron told me about it (which appears to contradict your statements):

This was how I phrased my question:

Quote:
I am interested in purchasing M4 F82 Coupe - F82DGA Display System, but I have a specific compatibility question.

I intend to install this device into a 2018 F82 which will previously have installed the "Genuine BMW F80/82/83 M3 & M4 M Performance Electronic Steering Wheel", this is the BMW accessory wheel with the shift lights and mini screen on it.

Because both products require accessing the FEM module (albeit on different CON pins), I wanted to make sure there are no compatibility risks with installing both products.

Do you have any knowledge of compatibility risks if both products are installed, or can you guarantee that there will be no compatibility problems if I install this Awron product on an M4 with the above steering wheel installed?
This was their answer:
Quote:
Regards your question about installing our AWRON display in F82 M4 and operation on the same CAN line with BMW Performance Steering Wheel there is no any risk or collusion when you have booth devices on the FEM module.

Actually, we have installed cca. 25 display with Performance steering wheel without any issue.
Can High and Can Low is on the same pin and you only need to plug our harness with small blue connector.
I'm naive about this stuff. I'm not even 100% sure if both installations do not share any wires (I didn't think so, but maybe I didn't look carefully enough). I don't really understand the meaning of the last sentence either. What am I missing here?

Unless Awron has made changes in the firmware for the diagnostic CAN address (which retrieves vitals for display data), the two cannot co-exist.

If you already have an Awron display, the Performance Steering wheel's usefulness is only for relocated shift lights, as the Awron displays much more data than the PSW.

I will follow this up with Awron and see what they say.

Suppose I installed both anyway, what do you think might be the simplest way to have both installed and switch between them?

You'll need to follow up with Awron directly, as most people go with Awron or PSW, not both.

Whats up guys, after reading about the conflicts with the jb4 i was curious if this product would be compatible with my ecu after having it bench tuned? Will my HP, torque, and boost numbers be the same as stock or will the awron account for the increases that the tune gave me?

Ditch the JB4 for a flash-based tune and the Awron will work properly.

No problem with Awron systems on flash-based tunes.
