M4 DTM Edition: VIN Numbers Thread

Making a list of currently specced M4 DTM edition VIN's

We can make lists of VIN's per country where available ( for example Australian ones are generally easy to determine)

Left Hand Drive Cars
DTM K576993 till K577222 (130 cars, none built asof today)

EU Right Hand Drive Cars
DTM K577822 till K577891 ( 70 cars, none built asof today)

Info from BMW's build sheets for each VIN

Currently 29 scheduled as "England version"

Had no idea DTM had such a following outside of Europe. Japan, for example, has Super GT from my recollection (may have been renamed under FIA stewardship, not sure). And the Aussies have their V8 Supercars series of course.

Thanks for posting, E90Fleet.

Thanks for posting, E90Fleet.
Following DTM racing has little to do with where the model is available.

We get to see hardly any DTM , most of the time only what you can download from the internet and we are getting 15 cars.

Well, by whatever means, I have to assume there is some critical mass of people in SA following the series or it wouldn't make sense to sell it there.

I strongly doubt that the list of countries where the car will be made available was chosen arbitrarily.

Very few even know about DTM here

What we do here is buy a lot of M cars as a percentage of BMW's sold.

The M4 GTS was sold out here immediately the allocations were announced even though we have very very limited track time available around the country. So most of them will never see a track.

They sold because they are a limited edition M car.
As will the DTM, not because its related to DTM, but because its a limited production M car.

Fair enough - that makes some sense.

Still, Australia and perhaps others excepted, on a global basis, I would have to assume that the markets for this vehicle were chosen carefully based in some large part on awareness of DTM. Perhaps that isn't the only reason this product won't be seen in North America (legal compliance costs play a role no doubt), but if you are looking for a place to get blanks stares and confusion while mentioning DTM in the same sentence as popular local racing series, this would be it.

You don't buy these cars for the exterior lighting obviously, but with the big deal that is made about the unique OLED taillights they have, the fact that they'll miss out on the new LCI headlights going into production in just a few short weeks seems just a little bit of a bummer.

That can be said about the new I-drive installed on GTS built after 06/2016. I have a 04/2016 and could not be bothered by it.

True, with one difference in this case. That is, like I say, the rear lighting is specifically emphasized as a selling feature of the GTS and the DTM edition. To then have the front lighting be left as the outgoing part is sort of an unfortunate situation.

Maybe the DTM edition built as of 3/2017 will have the news lights - quite possible. That is assuming they will not all be built before then (seems unlikely they would, but who knows).

I think I would have an issue with it if the difference was bi-xenon vs. LED or LED vs. OLED. But I see your point as some ppl might have an issue or be bothered by it.
