Interesting, as no dealers have allocations, maybe they are limiting production?

When did you get your allocation?

I got an allocation on Saturday, but don't know when production is supposed to start yet. It will probably be for June, but I'll report back when I know.

remember everyone, if you dont get a production number you dont have a allocation so make sure in these closing months you get all that info so you are not waiting only to find out it never came through. Happy Hunting

My '15 M3 lease is up soon, and I placed an order last week for another F80 and received the Production order # almost immediately, but with no confirmed production date. Couldn't remember if Production order # meant allocation or not. Thanks for that reminder!

+1

When I was hunting, the dealers that DIDNT have an allocation had very creative (borderline sleazy) ways of convincing me that they did. To eliminate the confusion, my method was: produce an allocation number in writing and I will produce a completed credit app and deposit on the spot. It was the only way to filter out the dealer tricks, which by the way are getting very good!!!

My case is probably a little difference cause I'm from Canada, and the allocation business is different here. From what my SA told me, ppl put an order in and BMW Canada fills the allocation, dealers don't get allocated numbers to sell.

I put my order in at the beginning of Feb, so it still took awhile, but production is still happening I think.

In a similar boat right now. I have a production number but no production week.

That's strange, I believe once a number is assigned, that reflects a build week also. When I got mine, it also stated the specific build week.

Have the dealer run a vehicle inquiry report and send it to you. Curious to know what status number you’re at.

You can also check if the order has been accepted on mybmw with the production number. At least there you can see if you're in the system.

Call a BMW genius, look up the number at BMWUSA site, don't call the genius at the dealer. If that prod-number is legit, it should be in the computer complete with estimated prod-date else it's bogus.

They gave me an allocation with a production number too! Thanks for clarifying GOLFFRR.

What I meant is that the BMW website still does not give me dates

Does anyone know if the F80 M3 is still in production? I am trying to order a new one and am getting conflicting reports.

Thank you!

Stop spreading false information! There are at least two of us who have a confirmed production week in June. If you don't know don't "suppose"!

June is the completion date for the last known cars we see - all of those have start dates of May in the BMW DCS system. If you guys want to provide proof of anything other than a CS being made after that, then do it. Right now, none are scheduled (and yes, this can of course, change, but right now, there are no F80s scheduled to be completed after week 23).

True, production week is the completion week, not the start of production.

My M3 is scheduled to begin production on week 23. I confirmed it with the BMW genius. I wish it weren't that late, but it's true.

This info was provided over the phone.

Then you would have production week 24. Production week number = week car is complete.

I hear that bmw is ceasing production on the F80 this Oct. and may have to wait until 2020 for the G80 to release. Just wondering if this true and whether I should pull the trigger on the F80? I apologize if posting this in the wrong thread.
Unless something has changed they aren't releasing the new m3 until after 2020.

It might be as early as next month - still waiting for confirmation. Stay tuned to this thread.

At best. History would suggest it will start only after production of the previous generation has wrapped up. The F83 will be the last of the bunch to end production in late 2020. So it is still very possible we don't see the G80 until early 2021. That would also correspond to a seven year cycle from the start of F8x M3 production in early 2014.

However, given how strong the competition has become, BMW may want to launch the new generation earlier than that. So, if we instead turn our attention toward the time between the G30 5 Series and the F90 M5, that was just over a year (late 2016 to early 2018). With the G20 3 Series launching in late 2018, it could mean we see the G80 M3 arrive on lots early 2020.

At any rate, if you want a new M3 and don't want to wait at least two years, then yes, you should get one now.

And of course be ready to pay full MSRP on new G80 M3 on the first year, if you lucky to get allocation.

Depend how much BMWAG pays those reviewers/auto-journalists, if they did ala M2 maybe two years wait so 2022

BMW Genius gets this wrong often, as I was told that my week 15 production was the start week by Genius when it is actually when the car finished (began production two weeks earlier). Whenever you have a production week, it indicates the week when the car is scheduled to complete the production process.
